You can go to the trip report forum on here, go all the way back to 2001 and see reports mentioning the muster drill.

Heck, even back in the 80s we had a muster drill on the Emerald Seas - had to wear our life jackets and all. I don't remember if it was before sailing, but we definitely had one.

I cruised on the Magic right after it set sail. I was a CM then and they would offer us the 4N cruises for $250 to fill the ship (I believe the amount included tips, too). I often went every month because it was so cheap, if I could back to back my days off! Every cruise the muster drill was in port, starting back in 1998. Those were the days!
