Small Contract and Pt. Transfers

I’m thinking about buying a small (25-50pt) resale to get started and to avoid taking a loan out. I’d probably then buy point transfers to have enough points for longer or more frequent trips (if I didn't want to rent).

My questions are:

1. For point transfers, does the DVC system track the use year for the transferred points? So, if you wanted to purchase a point transfer for a reservation 10 or 11 months out, do you need to find a party with that particular use year?

2. Does DVC limit the frequency of incoming point transfers, in addition to those going out?

1. I do believe that the points retain their original UY. But you can bank them as well. (I am not 100% sure on the transfers and UY though).

2. You are limited to only 1 transfer a year in or out of your contract. I presume that this is your UY.

That is correct. Points transfered in should retain their original use year AND resort priveldges. So, you would want to make a transfer in from someone who owns the same resort and use year as yourself to most easily use with your points. If you are making a ressie at the 7 month window, the resort wont matter much.

Only ONE transfer a year is allowed, and that is either IN or OUT, not both.

due to the extreme limits on transfers, be aware that finding someone with the right number of points who is willing to use up their one transfer for you may be tougher than it sounds...

Policies limit point-transfer transactions to one transfer per Member or Membership, either as transferee or transferer, during a given Use Year.

Reservation points cannot be transferred. Transferred vacation points retain the Use Year and Home Resort Priority of the Membership they were transferred from. All transferred points expire at the end of the transferring member’s Use Year. All transfer transactions are final and irreversible.

Transferred points can be banked; however, banked or borrowed vacation points may not be transferred.

Members are prohibited from receiving compensation for engaging in any transferring of vacation points.
