Small add-on: AKL now, or wait and see what VGF2 looks like?

Would love some opinions -
Right now, all our points are at VGF. We are a family of 4, but have decided that we really only want to stay in 2 bedrooms so we need some more points. Kids are still young (6 and 4), so we probably have 5-10 more years of consistent Disney vacations, after which we will probably sell everything (maybe keep one small VGF contract).
I can probably pretty easily talk my husband into 30-60 more points as a Christmas present. Ideally the points would have been at VGF, but apparently everything is on hold until the conversion is complete. Second choice is AKL due solely to the lower price (would be buying direct) and the fact that I don't want a 2042 expiration. For what it's worth, although I could see us maybe planning a Christmas trip one year to stay at VGF 11 months out, we tend to book within 7 months anyways (usually closer to 4).
So, what would you do? Buy now at AKV, wait and buy at VGF when it goes back on sale, or wait and make a decision once VGF is on sale (and knowing that there will probably be another price increase between now and then), or do something else entirely?

If the goal is 2 bedrooms, having AKV points won't help you book those 2 bedrooms at VGF until the 7 month window. The same will be true for AKV...you won't be able to use VGF points there until 7 months.

Since the amount of points you want to add is small, I would wait for VGF and add on there. With all those new points and new studios, I do think having home resort advantage to get the 2 bedrooms will be important.

I’m in a similar boat. Buy poly resale to augment my direct akl or wait for gfv2.

I want 100 points on the monorail but it’s killing me to wait for gfv without knowing price or bite the bullet pre price increase and go for poly

i only want studios

I'd wait another week for VGF2, it might be cheaper than AKV during the Black Friday sales event.

It's the not knowing the price that gets me too. I would kick myself if I bought AKL for $186 as my compromise but could have gotten VGF for ~20-30 pp more. But I'm also going to kick myself if pricing comes out super high for VGF and AKL gets a big price increase. If VGF comes out super high then I'll probably wait until closer to my UY to buy to take advantage of the "free" points, so that would put me into late 2022.

This combination doesn't make sense to me, mathematically. DVC keeps a $70/point-ish spread on resale, (except recently with some weird cases here and there like current BW incentives!). This is like driving the new car off the lot and selling it a year later. If you're planning to sell quickly, just start used. Buying contracts in such small increments doesn't either. Put $800-ish of closing on each on, for 50 points and 10 years, that's $1.60/year. And it's going to take A LOT of 50 points contracts to be able to lounge out in 2BRs.

If you want 2BRs, VGF might be a very bad choice, as it is about to be over 50% studios.

The combination of buying direct and in small contract amounts is the most expensive way to buy DVC. Honestly, I'd just rent points. It's probably the better mathematical solution.
