Anyone else, despite their best efforts, lose sloooowly like me?
My body is even odd enough that it will go a week or two and lose nothing. (this is with clean eating and working out 7-10 hours per week!) Then I may lose 2-2.5 lbs all at once. More like stair step than an incline. I keep my calories around 1600 per week. I did one of those mathmatical equations where you figure out your calories based on Lean Body Mass plus the amount of exercise you do. If I go below 1400 it will affect my metabolism, and with my workout schedule (training for the half-marathon) my range is 1400-1800 to lose weight. Some days get closer to 1800 than others. I've heard calorie cycling can help but it seems like too much work!

Anyway, if there are others like me, who, despite thier best effort just SLUG along, you are welcome to join me in forming a SLUG CLUB. Woo hoo. Go slugs:hippie:

Hey Texa,

When I first started reading your thread I was going to say maybe you weren't eating enough, but then I read that you definately have that under control and are aware of that.
I tend to have a big week and lose slower one or two weeks too. I try to eat towards the higher end of my calorie range too. There is definately truth to staggering your calories to keep your body guessing. When your body says.........I get (using your numbers in your post) 1400 and you only eat around 1400 each day, your body will adjust and expect the 1400 each day and get used to it. It will say to itself, hey I always get 1400 calories and I can live on this amount. Let's hold on to some fat just in case. Same thing can happen if you keep it at 1800 each day.

But.........if you did the following:

Monday - 1400 calories
Tuesday - 1700 calories
Wednesday - 1400 calories
Thursday- 1800 calories
Friday -1400 calories
Saturday- 1600
Sunday -1800

Now you can change this around to fit the days of the week you know you are going to have higher calories days.

I notice that if I have days that I keep my calories at my high end too many days in a row my body stops losing. The moment I add a low day or two in there, within a day or two of doing that I ususally see the scale move down a little.

I'm also wondering if you have tried making it more than 3 meals a day with those calorie limits? I've also been told this is the only way to keep you body from thinking it is in starvation mode. I'm not certain it works exactly. I've found when I do try to split things into more meals and keep more with the exercising that I am much more successful.

The thing I really liked reading about your success is that you are not giving up! This is great and you can do it.

Keep on keepin' on!

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

PS: I seem to be in the club right now where I am slowly picking up those loose pounds everyone else is leaving off. I need to get myself back.

Howdy fellow slug!!! I've been plateaued since January. Same 3 to 4 pounds. Up, down, up, down. The only thing I can really see that helps me actually lose is No carb. But I can NOT stick to it. But if I do it for even 2 days I will be down at the low end of my weight. I am going to jump up and down and scream when I finally break thru! Then I'll probably be right back up the next day! LOL

I just keep telling myself not to stop cause then what? The 25 I lost will just come back on and that is not OK!

I did low carb for several years. I really loved it. My body responded really well to it but it was impractical for me in the long run. Especially with the new physical goals I'm trying to meet. I think I'm going to try South Beach. Phase II looks doable. One of the ideas I took home form low carb is eating whole, unproccessed food. I think I'll limit my whole grains to 3 servings a day and see what happens. As long as we don't go backwards!:cool1:

I'm definately a slug. I am wondering how you found out what your calorie intake should be. I would be interested to know that.
Thanks
Michele

My friend did South Beach and lost about 18lbs. She just had a baby and will probably do it again to lose the baby weight. I wonder if you could just jump right to Phase II? WW's Core program is pretty good and I had some limited results on that as well. I think I did bad when I added in all my activity points and used them for sugar. When I limited myself to 5 points worth of snacky stuff I lost weight. I've been semi trying to be low carb the past two weeks. And I actually went below my lowest weight ever on Sat. I hit 159.8. I've been yearning to get below 160 for months. So I'm encouraged that I did it. I'm not still there of course! But just the fact that I was actually able to see it on the scale for even a minute is very encouraging to me.
