Slowest time to go?

Hubby and I want to plan another trip to Uni. We are lucky enough to have jobs with flexible vacation time.

We would love to stay on site and take advantage of Express Pass but that's not an option for our budget. We would rather plan to stay off site and go during the week to avoid weekend crowds.

With that being said, what are some of the historically slower times to go that won't matter that we don't have early entry or Express Pass?

After Labor Day and before HHN starts and after Thanksgiving before the Christmas rush.

the slowest time that i have gone has been mid september.
also days after labor day in september are low crowds.
next low time for me has been early May and with mid to late April.

if you look at the seasonal rate chart for the deluxe onsite hotels, you will see rates per time periods.

i have also used that as an indicator for when i go in early to mid May.

i have been at the parks for all but november and december.

sometimes it is difficult to have the same experience for low crowds as others talk about.
what dates that have worked for me, might not for others.

i do stay on site and can avoid long ride lines in the parks.
but, if a park is crowded or packed, it takes time and patience to deal with all the peeps when you want to eat or just walking around inside the parks.

In the six trips we've made over the past few years i would rank crowds on our trips from lowest to highest:

1. First week of December

2. September right after Labor Day

3. April 2 weeks after spring break ends

4. First week of October (done twice for hhn)

5. First week of June

The first week of december (particularly the first weekend) is probably the best time to go. Lowest crowds, best weather, and the Christmas events are just starting.

Day to day, bad weather days will lower crowds.

Outside of that, September after Labor day, parts of the beginning of November, first part of May. Use hotel rates or express pass rates to get a good sense of how Universal itself thinks crowds are going to be.
