Pork butt roast is on sale for $1.49/lb. at our local grocery store so I'd like to make pulled pork sandwiches for dinner next week. Does anyone have a simple pulled pork recipe for the slow cooker that they really enjoy? TIA!

If I want to use it for more than just sandwiches (on pizza, in tacos/wraps), I do the following:

One cubed onion, fresh garlic in the bottom of the crock pot. Add the pork, then pepper and seasoning salt to the top. Fill the bottom 1/4 of the crock pot with water.

If I want bbq pulled pork, I just pour a bottle of my fave bbq sauce in over the top. (Ours is a family recipe passed down for generations. We're in Kansas City.) You can use whatever is your fave. Maybe add a little water if needed.

I love making pulled pork! So easy!

Sweet Pork for sandwiches

4 lb pork roast
Worchestershire Sauce
1/3 to 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 cup apple cider or apple juice
1 tsp salt

Spray the crock of a 6 qt crock with Pam. Coat the roast with Worchestershire sauce. I probably use at least 1/4 cup. Rub sugar over the outside of the roast. The more sugar you use, the sweeter it will be. (I typically use 1/3 to 1/2 cup, but the original recipe called for 3/4 cup.) Place roast in the crock, and carefully pour the cider around the side of the roast. Don't wash off the sugar and Worchestershire sauce! Cider gives more flavor to the roast than juice, but you can use either.

I cook this for 6 hours on low in my crockpot, but mine runs kinda hot. I would use a meat thermometer and check the temperature at 6 hours. I bet you could roast this the oven instead. Maybe cook at 325 in a Dutch oven until the roast tests done?

Shred meat with a fork, sprinkle with the salt, and serve as sandwich meat. It's really good on toasted whole wheat rolls.

I made pulled pork in my crockpot this weekend. Just put the pork in the crockpot, and put 1/2 bottle of your favorite BBQ on it. Cook on low 6-8 hours. Take the pork out of the crockpot, and shred with 2 forks, put back in crockpot with some more BBQ sauce, and heat 1.5+ hours. If you wish, you could add onion to the pork while you are slow cooking it. Yummy and easy!!

I really don't measure, but I use
Ketchup
light brown sugar
a bottle of bbq sauce
apple cider vinegar
salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder cook on low all day usually 8-6

That's what I do.

I use 8oz of root beer and half a bottle of bbq sauce. And If I want a little kick to the meat, I will sprinkle some cayenne pepper on the pork before putting the soda and sauce in. Cook on low for 8 hours.

I put the meat in the crockpot with a can of Coke (or other regular soda, no diet). Once it's done cooking, I take it out, shred it, drain the liquid, and put it back in the crockpot with BBQ sauce. Let heat through another 30ish minutes and DONE!

this is our favorite. I will tell you that we remove the chipolte's after we cook it. (we tried it with the peppers chopped up and mixed in and it was just too hot for us) When I give this to the boys I either make a very lightly spiced pork (one or two peppers instead of the whole can) or I squeeze out the cooking liquid and drown it in sweet sauce.

It is an oven recipie but I do it in my crock pot. I sometimes do High for a couple of hours then put it down to low for the rest of the day if I do a half day cook, or I just put it on in the morning and slow cook until dinner.

Like others I just pick a good BBQ sauce, cook the pork in half the bottle, shred it and then reheat for another hour or so with more BBQ sauce. I also like to throw in some sliced white onion (I slice it because the girls don't like it and that way they can pick it out) and some garlic. Turns out good every time. :)

The way I cook it is basically the same as everyone elses but I wanted to add we put coleslaw on our sandwhiches and it is sooo good. Also I use any leftover meat to make BBQ Pizza the nextday. I think I like the pizza just as much if not more sometimes then the sandwhices :)

I also use rootbeer...enough to almost cover the entire roast....so a whole 2 liter. When the roast is done (8 hours on low or until it falls apart)...I empty all the rootbeer out...and add some Sweet Baby Rays sauce...yummy!!!! It falls apart and is so tender! I always use a Boston "rear-end" when making pulled pork....the guy at the meat counter said it is the most tender.

Love the idea of adding coleslaw to the sandwich! I will have to try that next time.

McCormick's slow cooker pulled pork envelope of seasoning.

I have a former co-worker that LOVES to cook. Good stuff. Goes to all of the Food Channel shows that come to town, spends a fortune on equipment and ingredients.

She uses the McCormick. It's really good.

:thumbsup2 We like Wickers marinade! I just line the pan with foil, place the roast in the oven and pour the Wickers over it. When it's done, I drain. My older kids like the roast just with the Wickers, but we shred some of it and pour our favorite BBQ sauce over it. Great both ways!

I use this for pork or beef
Cook meat and 1/4 cup onion in crockpot overnight and shred in the am.
for 3-4 lbs of meat I add

2 bottles chili sauce
1/4 cup pickle relish
1/4-1/2 cup brown sugar

let that cook on warm until ready to serve

I use a small bottle of Kraft spicy honey BBQ sauce, cook on low for 6-8 hours, remove the meat from the crock and shred in a casserole, then take some of the juice from the crock and decant off the grease, mix with a good BBQ sauce of your choice (two Ive used lately are Williamson Brothers and Guy Fieri's smoky and sweet one (maybe Kansas City style?)) both available at our Wal Mart super center. I've found if you aren't careful using the cooking juices you'll wind up with greasy meat. I mix the sauce and meat and usually put mine in the warming drawer until ready to serve.

Here's one my family loves :) I thought it was easy but there are some pp with even easier ones, will have to try some others.

Pulled Pork

I use this formula per average-sized tenderloin. If you're using a roast, I'd triple it.

1 tbsp. paprika
2 tsp. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. celery salt
1/2 tsp. garlic salt
1/2 tsp. dry mustard (I like Keen's; it's easy to find, too)
1/2 tsp. black pepper
1/4 tsp. salt

Mix all the ingredients in a Ziploc bag. Toss the pork inside and coat with the spice mixture. Marinate overnight or longer, if you'd like. When ready, put the pork in your slow cooker on high for four hours - it should easily pull apart by then. Keep on low for another 2-4 hours. Serve on a bun with or without BBQ sauce.
