Pierced Ears - What Are You and Do You Have Them?

I'm a girl. One piercing in each ear, done when I was 10. I had them double pierced when I was 19, but let the second holes close shortly after when I didn't like the placement. Didn't have the energy to do it again!

I'm female, triple-pierced on my ears plus a piercing on the top of my left ear (good old 90's/early 2000s!). I let all of them close up years ago and now only use the regular first holes. :) Even though they've been 'closed' for at least 10 years, I think I can still probably get earrings in the first three holes (the third hole would probably be painful) - not sure about the top of the ear one.

Female with double-pierced ears. Got my first set when I was 10, the second when I was 14. I've debated adding a cartilage piercing off and on for a few months now, but took too long to decide--I'm student teaching this fall, so I can't put a cartilage in between now and then since it won't have time to heal before I have to take it out to teach, and after student teaching I'm hoping for a PI or another college program, so it won't have any time to heal then, either. I've thought about adding a small nose or navel ring for quite some time, too, but waited too long for those now, too, so it seems that all my possible piercings are at least on hold now. I typically only wear earrings in one set of piercings at a time, anyway. I prefer to wear earrings in my second piercing, but my jobs have usually required earrings to be worn only in the lowest piercing, so often as not I'm not wearing earrings at all, or they're in my first piercing.

Has anyone pierced their babies ears ? I did that to my daughters and now I'm sad I did that. What was I thinking? Even though it was a cultural thing to do I caused pain to my child.

I have two piercings in each of my ears but one hole in each has closed up.

I wouldn't worry, she may not have felt a thing, It may have hurt you more than it hurt her...lol

My daughter was 1yr old when i got her ears done...it really didn't phase her, the lady pierced them one at a time, after the first one was done, my daughters lip dropped and was about to cry, so I pulled out a lolly pop I had brought, just in case that happened...... she grabbed the lolly pop and the lady was able to do the second ear and not a tear was shed, it never seemed to bother her.

I know it would have been different story if I had not had that lolly pop though...fast forward to age 14, she got her belly button done piece of cake, she didn't even flinch, she then got her ears done again at age 16, she almost walked out after getting the first ear done...she was in agony, took her 20 minutes to get the nerve up to do the second ear then....no lolly pop that time...lol

Now she is a girl who screams blue murder at the suggestion of a needle, but getting her belly button done was a piece of cake for her. go figure.

Me - Girl - I have my ears done twice in each ear, first ones done when I was 13, parents wouldn't allow it before that age, then second set done when I was 16, parents didn't know about that lot for about 2 months after I did it...lol.. but only wear one set of earrings.

I have my ears double pierced. I got the first hole when I was about 7 at a local jewelry store on main street. I got my second hole when I was in my 20s and had so many problems that I let them grow up.

My DD had her ears pierced when she was about 5 and she wouldn't let me touch them. We got her earrings out and the holes grew up. She wanted hers done again when she was 8 & had some of her own money to spend. We were at a Claire's and she changed her mind. The employees really wanted to help her to get through her fear but she kept hopping in the chair & hopping out at the last minute. I told them to just put another hole in my ear because DD would see that it didn't hurt and maybe she'd be interested in the future. (She's 14 and it still hasn't worked.) A lady shopping in the store told me that her whole family always dips her earrings in antibacterial ointment before they put them in their ears to prevent infection. I've done that since I got that piercing and have never had sore ears. It was such a simple solution after I'd had such a miserable time with the first 2nd hole.

Because DD really wishes she had earrings, I wish I had gotten hers pierced when she was a baby. I would have been better able to take care of them (I couldn't hold her down as well at 5) and she would have the earrings without the drama.
Of course, I don't have a problem holding my kids down for shots because it's what's best for them. When my DD was about 8 and had a antibiotic shot because she was refusing to take her medicine, I held her down while the nurse gave her the shot. She kept promising she would take it and the nurse kept saying "I think she'll take it now & doesn't need the shot." I told her that nothing was going to change my mind, holding DD to take medicine while she spit it back out wasn't going to cure her infection, & to give the shot. When we left the room, the nurse had tears in her eyes & I was rolling mine. :)

Male here, no piercings. I talked over getting matching cartilage piercings in one ear with Mrs. Tex, and she refused. (Single piercings on her, in her mid 20's because she was in the Army and they didn't allow it until then.) I'm still considering taking a big leap and doing one ear, but I'd want to do it soon because I want to see my Dad's reaction. He's nearly 90.

.

I don't remember any pain from being circumcised as an infant, so I'm sure your daughters don't remember a mere ear piercing.

Female.....in my teen years I had 5 in my left ear and 4 in my right. Had those for quite a few years. Then I took them all out and let them close up. I did get them pierced again a few year later. Then had the doubles done. The double piercings are now closed but I still have my first holes even though I rarely wear earrings.

I guess having my one year olds ear pierced wasn't so bad. Maybe they would have been too scared as tweens to get it done but then it would have been on them if they chose to do it. I still feel bad.

Btw when I was at Costco today I saw a baby about one with ears pierced. Did look cute.
