I am not a "sleep-toucher" either but I do tend to sleep very quietly and still in a contained amount of space. We have a queen because I hate the way a king fills a smaller room and we have no trouble managing for a few nights on a double. Ideally one day we'll have separate beds or (be still my beating heart :cloud9:) separate rooms! Is that a weird thing to want?

My parents had separate rooms since as far back as I can remember. I grew up thinking that was the norm.

We have a queen....a few years ago when we bought a new mattress we were thinking of going with a king, but decided to stick with the queen. A king size bed would have fit, but may have overpowered the room.

Same here, Wendy. Started out with full size, went to queen, then a few years ago, went to king. Best move ever. Plenty of space. Our kids and dog still join us sometimes in the morning to chat for a while and there's plenty of space for everyone. I always thought it was too big for our room, too, but it's not. I mean, technically, it may be, but who cares, it's comfortable and that's what matters most. :goodvibes

We have a CA King. Love it! If they came any bigger, we would think about it. The three cats seem to take up more room then the two of us.

King, between my husband and five cats that all insist on laying in my bed we need it. Our home is 100+ years old so the only way we could get a big bed up the stairs was to buy a sleep number bed and I love it. Sure the bed takes up most of our tiny room but it's totally worth it.

King sized! Between the dog, hubby, and I - it's packed  I'm a serious bed hog and so is the dog!

The poll is close between Queen and King and we have a King too. We got it about 16 years ago and have seen the kids come in and snuggle through the years.

I wonder when you have to replace a mattress? When it sags?

I don't think it's too much work to change the sheets on a king size.

When we go in hotels, we get double beds and I don't mind it really but much prefer a queen or king at home.

and Slo, thank you so much for your polls. They are really fun!!

Queen size. He's on the road a lot I feel sorry for him sleeping in a truck cab. We thought about a king for a long time but the room really is too small for that and the price of linens :faint: Now if/when he comes off the road permanently we may have to re-think the whole thing.

We have a full, and like it that way. When we travel we hate getting a king bed because I feel like I can roll over twice without finding him! We don't snuggle when we sleep, and we can go all night in the full without ever touching.

Other -

I'm currently at uni and sleep on a twin xl, but I have a full at home. I like being able to roll around in my sleep.

For the first several years of our marriage we slept together in a water bed, then changed to a regular queen size bed. DH was a huge snorer so several years ago I moved upstairs to one of the spare bedrooms (after the kids were grown and gone) and was finally able to sleep without being awakened several times every night with his snoring. He had a sleep study and does use a CPAP but we are both used to "our own space" so we still have separate bedrooms (and bathrooms :)). If we try to sleep together in a double bed, or even queen, neither of us sleeps well. We do sleep fine together in a king size bed though, so whenever we stay in a hotel if a king size bed is available we'll get that. But at home we each have a queen size bed.

If our bedroom was bigger, I would get a king. As it is, it would make the room too cramped.

We have an antique bed frame and it's a double. We're just fine with it--no sleep issues at all. In fact, all the bed frames in my house are antiques and they're all double beds.

I have an antique bed with an old 3/4 size mattress. Anyone know where I can get a newer/firmer mattress?

We have a king. I am a cuddler, SO is not. Also he claims I steal the covers, freeze him with my ice cold feet, and try to push him off the bed. :rolleyes1

When we go on vacation I try to book a King, if not and we get two doubles we each sleep in a separate bed (after I have forced some together time snuggling first!).

I don't think it is too much trouble changing the sheets on the king, however it is a pain to fold the sheets. More often than not I usually take the sheets off, wash them, and put the same ones right back on.

Mrs Tex? When did you join the DIS? :love2:

We have a king. We're both snugglers, but not once we're asleep. Mrs. Tex says I sleep like a rotisserie, and she sleeps like an octopus dreaming about falling. The king gives us both plenty of room.

California king at home... We are fine in fulls on vacation. And the last few weeks I have been hunkering down in a twin with one of my kids.

Slept for years on a Double. Upgraded to a Queen a few years ago. I see no reason to go to a King.

This is us, too! We had a double bed for years, finally went up to a Queen and it feels so spacious LOL So yea, it's big enough for us, won't upsize to a king.

I'm in a Twin XL in my dorm, and a twin at home. Actually, a bunkbed to be exact :crazy2: This past winter break I ended up sleeping on the couch for a month, which was also not particularly fun. But we're renovating this summer, so I'll hopefully be getting a full! :cool1:

I honestly have no idea how I'm going to manage sharing a bed with my future SO. Whenever I have to share a bed with a friend or my sister, I'm completely miserable. Like many of you, I can't stand touching people in my sleep! I also overheat when I share a bed with people, and I absolutely cannot sleep when I'm hot. And I've become more of a light sleeper in this past year, which is frustrating. The idea of having a separate bed from my husband sounds lovely. Frankly, I don't know how I'd do it any other way!
