I voted instand only but that isnt true. I do both. I like the tast of instant better, I am weird I know!

I always cook homeade mashed at home but do use instant for camping. I also use the instant for thickening homeade soup and if I am super pressed for time I will use instant when making shepards pie.

I have never made instant potatoes, and probably never will. Here is the reason: I am a speech therapist in a preschool classroom and we have a sensory table. The teacher is great and always finds new things to put in the table and last year she used potato buds. The kids really liked them, they pretended it was snow, had a great time. Then at the end of the week, she added water and let the kids mix it all up. Great sensory activity, but the smell in the classroom was overwhelming! Now I will not make them at home.

Only homemade, because I know the only thing in my potatoes are potatoes.

I only use Idaho or Russets for true mashed potatoes, rice my potatoes instead of mashing or whipping, scold my milk and melt my butter. Use lots of fresh ground pepper. Their Yummy!

we do not eat them very often so we always make them from scratch (we make the majority of our meals from scratch not bc we have time but bc it is so much healthier)
