We went out to dinner last night for my Dad’s 80th birthday and this restaurant has really good side salads. They have so many salad dressings you can choose from. I’d be willing to bet that many people probably request the same kind almost all the time. They may switch it up once in awhile to one other kind depending on what they ordered to eat.

Here’s a list of typical restaurant salad dressings…..

Personally, I think French should be on this list too, so I’ll add that to the poll.

Now seeing the above, tell us today…..

When at a restaurant and the above salad dressings are offered, including French, which ones do you typically choose?
(multiple choice)

For Me……Sadly, I can no longer eat salads due to my UC, but back in the day, I would always get Caesar at the restaurant we were at last night - they have the best Caesar salads (we were at Texas Roadhouse - it’s a chain for those that don’t know). At other restaurants I would normally get Blue Cheese, and hopefully it would be chunky. I enjoy Ranch, but I would just have that at home, so I didn’t vote for it.

I voted ranch because I can no longer eat because of a condition I have the ones I really love which would be French Or thousand island Or the balsamic Or Italian So I have to get something plain like ranch or just have nothing at all - I do miss having French it was one of my favorites And I have to watch what I put on my salad because I’m limited to what I can have

I do not like sweet dressings which is why I usually go for Italian or Caesar.

I almost always ask for Blue Cheese.

There are restaurants that include anchovies in a Caesar’s salad, and if I’m in one of those restaurants , I often ask for it.

I'm all over the place with dressing. Depends on the entree.

Frequently Caesar or Thousand, sometimes Ranch, Italian or French. I loathe Blue Cheese though .

I love salad but don’t care for commercially prepped dressings.
If a restaurant makes their own dressings I'm fine with it.

At home, I tend to make my own vinegar based dressing or just opt for a wedge of citrus.

Thousand Island is first choice, but I also like Caesar and Italian

It really depends - I like most types of dressings, so it could depend on my mood. I probably order a caesar salad most often, but if it's a salad bar, I probably use the ranch most.

I'll usually go for the viniagrette expecially if it's an "interesting" one. At home, I have italian. (I like a good homemade ranch too, but I don't often order it.)

Blue Cheese. If they don't have that; Thousand Island
I'm with you, @Kitty 34! DH and I always get blue cheese dressing, and if they don't have that then I get thousand island (which the Little Guy calls 'pink sauce'), but always on the side. I hate it when they drown the salad with dressing! I choose a traditional salad about 3/4 of the time, and Cesar salad the rest of the time.

French and Ranch are usually my go too.

I have both in my fridge right now.

If there's nothing special that the restaurant makes on site, it's blue cheese for me. I also like a good Asian vinaigrette.

P.S. Happy birthday to your dad! 🎂

It really depends on what kind of salad I am ordering. I would never have vinegarette on a chef salad, for example. A standard tossed salad would have ranch or 1000 Island. A salad with fruit would have vinegarette.

I usually choose Thousand Island but I also like Italian, Poppyseed, French, and fruit vinaigrettes too.

I only like Wish-Bone Italian salad dressing, so I usually don’t get a salad when I dine in a restaurant. If forced to accept a salad (such as a catered dinner), I choose whatever is closest to Italian that’s on offer, but usually after one taste the salad gets pushed aside. I am also kind of particular about the ingredients that go in my salad so I prefer to make them at home.
