In some homes, there’s always a debate in the home’s temperature - it’s to cold or it’s to hot
Which leads me to ask…..
Who controls the thermostat in your house?

For Me…..I am the keeper of the thermostat. The kids knew and still know that it’s a no touch zone. My DH has never been told he can’t touch it, but he knows how controlling I am about it and just leaves it alone - LOL! If I didn’t pay the utility bill, I wouldn’t be so controlling, but since I do pay the bill, I’m always trying to keep it from getting to high.

I control the thermostat. In the winter during the day I keep it at 71. Summertime it's whatever temp the day brings. If it gets too hot and muggy we will turn our window units on.

We installed one of the programmable app-controlled thermostat and my husband is the only one with the app, so he controls it. (However, I think it's set to keep the house within a range of 68-75 year round... so if it dips below 68, the heater will come on. If goes above 75, the air will kick in until it's back below 75. It doesn't require much day-to-day interaction.)

The kids (11 & 9) don't touch the thermostat. We use a programmable thermostat, so the grownups pretty much don't touch it either. We are usually 67 in the winter and 76 in the summer during the day.

I should select shared but... even though the other household members might adjust the temp, I audit the adjustment and reset accordingly. 😁

We had central air installed about 15 years ago but we have no duct work to the room we sleep in because it's the attic so we have a floor AC unit for these 90+ days. DH was ticked because I turned it off around 2AM. Really, once the room is cooled off we don't need it and the noise is distracting.

When everyone lived here they ALL messed with it and denied it - we were all over the place - what’s the point of having programmable if you mess with it ?? Put some clothes on - wearing shorts in the dead of winter and saying you’re cold ? I’m NOT turning up the heat you pay the bill 🤣🤣 funny now they pay their own bills how things have changed !! I try & keep it reasonable 72 in Summer / 68 in winter
My boss keeps it at 65 year round of lower if he can get it with the dang doors open for his dogs - it’s like an ice box I swear you could hang meat in there and it would be fine ! I pay the bills and they are scary huge ! 😳😳 but we are not allowed to touch it \ we have space heaters & blankets nice big thick ones !! 🤣🤣

I too pay the electric bill, so I choose the temperatures in the house. Though I let DH program it for me.

Yes, it is too cold in the winter and too hot in the summer. Unless you pay the bill, you don't get a choice. No, go put on a sweater, or change into shorts... Don't want to hear it.

We both agreed on the temperature and then set the thermostat, so it is always the same.
77 in summer and 72 in winter

It’s hanging on the wall in the hallway and any of us can turn it up or down. :confused3 I’ve never once in my life thought of it as something one specific person should be in charge of. Weird.

No set rule. I primarily control it, but dh has adjusted too. Dd doesn’t touch it.

DW is part lizard (anything below 80, she's cold). We've reached an uneasy truce on the thermostat--she controls it, but she knows the temp where I start to sweat and she keeps it 1 degree below that.

Me. With a 4 level home and 2 separate furnace/air conditioning units, we heat and cool where we are at the time. DH spends a lot of time on the lowest level, which stays cool in summer naturally and gets warm in winter when the heat is on. So I adjust for the rest of the living spaces as needed.
