A mix of pasta. The first time I tried the whole grain pasta, I hated it. But I found using both white and whole grain together helped the taste.

So I buy a mix of white and whole grain. But also have someone with Celiac, so I buy gluten free pasta too for that family member.

I only like whole wheat pastas with a cream sauce...I think the health benefit is cancelled out in that situation. We do like to eat Dreamfield's pasta--it is a more traditional past but with a lower glycemic impact.

Diabetic so only whole grain pasta. And today is the first day I have ever heard it called "brown pasta". It's whole wheat on the package.
Google doesn't recognize brown pasta as a thing

I call it whole wheat pasta. We regularly have whole wheat spaghetti and penne, but I use egg noodles in my tuna noodle casserole.

I have tried many types of pasta - black bean, chickpea, edamame, (maybe red lentil?) but usually go with the whole wheat.

DW insists on low carb kinds of pasta due to her health issues. I suppose it’s halfway between white and brown. Unfortunately there really aren’t that many varieties available.

For instance, on Christmas Eve she insisted on linguine and clam sauce as one of Feast of the Seven Fishes. We couldn’t find low carb linguine. I said we could use low carb spaghetti or fettuccine but she snapped at me. NO!!! It has to be linguine!

So once a year she can have standard pasta. I think we tried whole wheat pastas in the past. They were fine but nothing special.

I voted "Other" as I eat white pasta but with a difference.

(Shameless promo for Barilla Protein Plus Pasta coming: :teeth: )

Barilla Protein Plus Pasta. (Yellow box.)

It is the ONLY pasta I eat now, (other than quinoa.) Barilla Protein Plus is 100% plant protein, made with protein from lentils, chickpeas, and peas and is packed with more fiber and nutrients than regular pasta.

YET, it tastes like regular pasta. :cheer2: It does NOT taste like boiled cardboard the way "whole wheat" pastas do. :p It is a better choice for anyone who would still like to eat pasta, but not all the carbs, and have a protein substitute.

You can check the chart for the ratio of protein and fiber:
Barilla Protein Plus pasta. It is more expensive than regular pasta, but in exchange for buying/adding less of other protein foods, it's probably still less expensive - and more heart healthy & filling.

I compared it to my Safeway Signature Selects whole wheat spaghetti, which actually has 50% more fiber than yours (and does not taste like cardboard!) What pasta is not 100% plant protein? I'm happy with my 7g of protein vs 10, but other than added vitamins, they are not very different

Since I don't eat pasta very often (couple of times a month, tops) or in huge quantities, I don't worry about the minor nutritional differences.
I was thinking about this very point--Sure the whole grain pasta looks better on paper, but there's not a huge difference. If one were eating pasta with great frequency, it'd be a dietary upgrade. But for the handful of times in a month??? I'll eat what tastes best and only have a half piece of cheesecake for dessert. :scratchin

I went with 25% whole wheat and 75% white, same with rice. We also sometimes use rice pasta. The percentages for bread are 25% white 75% whole wheat.

I've been using whole wheat pasta for years but I mix it with regular pasta about a 50/50 ratio.
Everyone in our family likes the mix. I've tried using all whole wheat, it didn't go well.

I so rarely eat pasta, so when I do it is not whole grain lol

I actually don't think I have ever tried whole grain.

Some pastas are made with eggs.

We tried whole wheat pasta a few times in the past but really didn’t care for it. It had a different texture and mouth feel. It wasn’t unpleasant, but we prefer plain old over-processed standard pasta.
