I like it - we currently have WP in our primary bath ‘throne room’…above the wainscoting and chair rail in the dining room and a very subtle but elegant light cream/slightly darker cream stripe in our living room…
When we bought our house, the stripe paper was on 3 walls and a faux turquoise marble WP on the 4th wall ()…I liked the stripe paper so much my husband removed the turquoise and had paint mixed that exactly matched the stripe paper and painted the 4th wall to match…you still can’t tell which is WP and which is paint unless you get real close.

The other issue with wallpaper if you plan to do it yourself it takes a fair amount of skill. If it some sort of geometric pattern and the walls aren't perfectly square, can turn into a BIG job to make it turn out right. I think in the past wallpaper was viewed as as way to hide cracks in the plaster, but new homes now have sheet rock which doesn't form those types of cracks and can be easily repaired with spackling. Even an amateur can get good results from paint, but wallpaper takes a lot more skill.

I absolutely and totally hate wallpaper. Had to help my mom put up way too much of it when I was a kid. And then had to assist in taking it down and replacing it with something else. I think that most wallpaper looks ugly.

I like wallpaper, but none of our rooms have it. I’m not much of a decorator, so don’t care to change from paint to paper.

I love wallpaper. I do plan to have it in my next house in at least some rooms. They make so many beautiful patterns now that are easy to take off if you change your mind.
