I’ll honest with you all…..I didn’t know peas & carrots was something people ate (in regards to the vegetables being together) until the movie Forest Gump - that was in 1994 and I was 23 years old. My mom never made peas & carrots, so it was not something I was familiar with. Flash forward to 2025, and I’m now 53 years old and I still haven’t had peas & carrots. I’m curious today…..am I alone with this?

Have you had peas & carrots?
What is your opinion of this?
(multiple choice)

For Me……As I mentioned above, I have not had peas & carrots and I honestly never will. I absolutely hate peas - hate them! :crazy2:. I can choke them down if mixed in a recipe, like a pot pie, but to eat a bowl of them ain’t ever going to happen :sad2:. I tolerate carrots, but to have them tainted with the flavor of peas make me instantly not want them :sad2: When my girls were little I’d make them peas or carrots and told them how special they were to have a vegetable just for them. It made them so happy and would happily eat them :thumbsup2

I’ve never had them both served together as a vegetable together nor would I want them together I don’t like my vegetables mixing together unless they’re in a pot pie then I’ll leave them together otherwise my vegetables are segregated and they’re the stay that way
I will only eat fresh peas as in you know shell peas and cook them otherwise I don’t like peas
I like carrots just fine but I don’t want them mixing with other other vegetables again unless you put them in a pot pie and most the time I’ll pick the peas out of it
If you served me mixed vegetables I would politely eat a little bit of it not to be rude it would be hard but I would do it but it’s nothing I would ever serve in my house

Is it a southern thing I’m just asking since my house was an eastern house Is peas and carrots something that’s southern???

Except for pot pies and stuff like that , never thought of them together. And I'd pick them out of pot pie. I love every other type of pea out there, except those, or carrots.

I'm also not a fan of peas. Don't really like mixed vegetables, either, and neither did my mom so we never really had them.

I've always had them. I like them. Most of the mixed vegetables have them so it's hard to get around them. They're one of the few mixes I can have. I'll use it for a chinese dish. Rarely on it's own.

I’m not a fan of peas, I’ll eat raw carrots or carrots cooked in recipes. I don’t eat frozen or canned vegetables, just fresh, although I do keep frozen corn in the house for recipes like chicken tortilla soup.

I've never had just peas & carrots mixed together like that. The mixed veggies around here are usually peas/corn/carrots and maybe green beans. We'll typically mix the mixed veggies in with a saucy chicken type dish (ie the simmer sauce type meals). If it's a veggie side, we might do peas or carrots (or other) but not mixed like that.

I totally agree about peas. Maybe it's a texture thing because I hate lima beans as well. But I like other beans, so, dunno. I got through childhood by swallowing them whole.

I didn't allow my distaste for them affect my kids when they were young -- they LOVE them.

I finally decided (now that the kids are grown and gone) that I'm a freaking grown adult, and if I don't like something, I shouldn't force myself.

I can tolerate them mixed in stuff -- like shepherd's pie, pasta primavera, etc. But bleah.

Yes, I’ve had them. This is a place where frozen vegetables are a staple through the winter months and in my world I can’t imagine anyone not having had them. And they do look pretty together in a bowl. :goodvibes Nowadays though, I never buy the peas-and-carrots mix. I prefer the mixed vegetables that also include corn, green beans and Lima beans. There’s a bag in my freezer right now.
