I have both old and new ornaments that I love for various reasons(mostly for sentimental reasons) I don't really have a "favorite", but I have a special container just for those and then fill in with the more generic ones

My favorite ornament was given to me by my mother. A pair of red felt ice skates with a large paper clip for the blades. She bought it at a craft show and paid $1.00 for it. She passed away suddenly in 1982 - 41 years ago. So, it is my favorite. My adult son is aware of my attachment to that ornament and knows that when I pass he has to keep it. 🙂

Not sure I'd call it a family heirloom, but it is one of the few remaining ornaments from my family growing up. It's a small bell, about an inch high. There is a crack where it was broken & glued together.

Our tree is a hodge-podge of ornaments. The oldest is one my mom had as a child in the 1920's. Many homemade ornaments, by me when I was a kid, and our kids. My two favorites are commercially made and are among the newer on our tree. Hard for me to pick, but these two are my favorites. The BEST character from the Star Wars movies, and a 1965 Mustang Hallmark ornament that my wife found that is actually the same color our my real 1965 Mustang. photo.jpg

For some reason I couldn't post both in the same reply.photo.jpg

I don't have a single favorite, but we have dozens of Disney figures that are my favorites.

This ornament is part of a collection that was mostly sold off when we moved here. Used to lose my mind decorating every room with a different metal color and theme. The man was veddy happy when I adopted minimalism 😂. Somehow I retained about 6 oversized ornaments and this is my “favorite man in the moon”. He has stars on his other side that you can’t see but if you stare deeply into his eyes maybe they’ll appear?

I love your devotion to Jar Jar.

If you want something very unique, here's a clip of Jar Jar speaking German. They even kept his odd accent:

I'm not at home to take a picture, but my favorite ornament is a red, plastic bell that has the paint chipping off of it. My parents bought it, when my oldest sister was a baby. It's over 70 years old now. We always took turns putting it on the tree & everyone looked forward to their year. When my Mom was no longer able to put up a tree, I was the first to ask for it. It sits front & center on our tree & is the only non-blown glass ornament on that tree. I've promised it to my sister closest in age to me, if I pass away first. She was the first to ask me for it.

I have many favorites as I like to get one from every vacation/trip. I have some that are fun and musical because everyone knows I love ornaments and gets them for me. I don't put any plain glass balls on my tree. Every ornament has meaning. My most recent purchase is a HM hippo ornament that plays "I want a hippopotamus for Christmas" which my bf gave me because she knows my obsession with hippos and the Cincinnati Zoo. I adore Fiona & Fritz and the whole bloat. IYKYK. 😂

No particular favorite ornament. When going through them while decorating the tree, I put at least 30 in the discard pile.

After Christmas I’ll go through those again and get rid of most or all.

I already threw out three trash bags of miscellaneous decor I no longer wanted.

An online friend makes these photo ornaments for a group of us every year. I think the first year I got one was 2010. I think I have at least 15 of them and love them all but this one she sent me after my Mom passed is the most cherished one

Definitely old. My most cherished ornament. I bought this at a craft sale for my mom when I was about 8-10 years old. My mom was also selling at this craft sale. I didn’t remember until another old neighbour told me but it was made by someone else I knew in the neighborhood. I remember being so proud picking this out for my mom. It was the only ornament I have from my childhood and it always goes on our tree first. My mom passed away when I was 26.

I'll also be cleaning out things I never put out anymore.

My favorites are the ones that were given to me by my mother and father. I'll use them and hold on to them until I'm gone. They are supposed to go to old friends after I'm gone and my hope is they will continue moving through that family as well.

My two favorites are one super old santa that was my grand moms when she was little and a Rose from Golden girls (my favorite show) that DH got me last year. Now I just need the rest of the girls!

Yes, almost all of the decor I discarded hasn’t been used in over five years. Some was in shabby condition.

My local library used to have a decoration exchange in early December where I’d leave stuff and maybe pick up somebody else’s discards. But they stopped doing it after covid.
