I took Spanish in high school, but can't really speak it.
Just recognize some works when I see them or hear them

I took Spanish classes starting in 7th grade and continuously until 11th grade. Plus 3 or 4 semesters in college.

I’m not fluent, but I generally can read and communicate adequately. Both DDs are pretty much fluent.

I have a vocabulary of perhaps 100 Polish words and a dozen or so phrases.

I'm late on this one (was at WDW last week.) I took two years of German in high school, I loved it! My dad served in WWII and picked up quite a bit of German language while in the army. He'd get together with an uncle and they'd start speaking German, pretty sure they were just telling dirty jokes, so naturally I wanted to learn the language.

While my dad was alive we would speak German around the house sometimes, just for fun. I'd pick up some additional words that hadn't been covered in class, and pop them in to a lesson from time to time. (They weren't bad words, just some vocab that hadn't been introduced yet.)
