As I sit here at 5:30am without coffee for wellness bloodwork, I decided to have this be the subject for today’s poll. I haven’t had this done for almost 2 years, which is not good - we all should have it done once a year. For those that don’t know what we do wellness bloodwork, here ya go…..

So, I’m wondering if you all are better about getting this done than I am. Truth be told…I’m not nervous about getting it done, I just go to other doctors & specialist for other things that I just don’t think about going for my wellness exam & bloodwork. I put a reminder in my phone for next year to remind me it’s been a year and it’s time to go. How about you? Tell us today……

Do you get wellness bloodwork?
If yes…..when was the last time you had this done?
If no……will you go sometime soon?
(multiple choice)

For Me……As I mentioned above it’s been almost 2 years since my last wellness bloodwork, but I’m going this morning 🙂👍🏻

I get it at least once a year as they are tracking a certain item to see if it is progressing ( not really which is good ) or my Dr is looking for things that thankfully don’t show up!! Because of that he ignores my cholesterol which is a tad bit high 🤣🤣
Due for mine next month !!

Yes, I get wellness bloodwork done at least once a year. My wellness exam is usually in March. It was fine then, a few months ago. It's amazing how many different parameters are looked at, measured, etc with 3 or 4 small vials of blood.

Have a good work up, Sandy, enjoy your coffee and whatever afterward. :coffee:

I have ITP (low platelet count) so, since I already have blood drawn at every yearly exam to monitor that, they run the other standard tests as well. My last one was earlier this year.

It's been over 10 years since I saw a PCP or had normal bloodwork done. I last had any bloodwork done 8 years ago when I was hospitalized for severe anemia and got transfusions.

Just had it done in anticipation of a physical next Monday. I should have it done every year, but it's been almost two years. I hate having my blood drawn.

My husband's old work required wellness exams which was primarily bloodwork with other minor information like height weight blood pressure that sort of things, in order to get a reduced rate on health insurance (though smokers weren't eligible for a reduced rate and also had to do smoking cessation courses) but eventually that dropped off from being required for non-employees but they also reduced the reduction in health insurance.

His present company does not require any health exams or bloodwork for non-employees but there's also no reduction in rate (though the company pays 100% for all employees it's the dependents or family members that incur the cost) and the deductible is very high. The difference between a company with thousands of employees (prior company) and a company with just over 100 (present company).

I get a yearly bloodwork for work -- there's an insurance discount if we meet certain parameters. Also good to just have!

Between my primary care doctor and my Endocrinologist, I get blood work done twice a year.

I get my physical every year. Last year it was on December 31, so it will probably slide to early January 2026, since insurance makes sure you wait the 365 days. It's a good thing to keep up on.

Now, I am overdue for my colonoscopy - that one I've been putting off. Yeah, I know, I know - I really should.

About 8 years ago I made the decision to get ALL the recommended tests and routine doctor visits. I have several medical issues that we are keeping an eye on now. I get bloodwork every year. Women’s visits including Pap and mammogram every year. Dentist twice a year. Eye doctor 3-4 times a year to check field vision because I am at high risk for glaucoma. Colonoscopy every 5 years.

I have had an annual checkup, including bloodwork, for the past six years, and am due again in a couple of weeks. I think I started going in my 50’s, or whatever the recommended age was back then, but didn’t start out going every year.

I know I didn’t go annually initially, as one time when I called to make an appointment they asked if I was a patient there. Apparently they purge you to the inactive files if you haven’t visited the office in a certain number of years. Before age 50 (?) I only went to a doctor if there was an issue.

My primary care doctor has me do routine blood work twice a year before visits. Occasionally a specialist wants lab work done also.
