Many in our on different nights. I used to be a regular, but not so much anymore. I found that there are more jams/jellies and cookies than produce. The one farm market shows up at all most all of them and I was buying most of my produce there. There permanent farm stand is between work and home so I just go there.

There are many farmers’ markets spread throughout NYC and if I could I’d visit most of them.
As things stand there is literally one down the street from me that opens once a week every week from Memorial Day to Thanksgiving week. When opened, I get most of my produce from them. It’s their fault I’m making strawberry sorbet again but how could I resist the end of that growing season?
Anyway the biggest and oldest is located on 14th Street in Manhattan and never closes. This one also sells flowers, meat, and wool. During December it also has stands to sell holiday specialities.

There are several farmers markets in my area. The biggest one near me (Old town Alexandria) is year-round on Saturdays. It has stands selling breakfast sandwiches, etc, produce, flowers, baked goods, dairy, and crafts, although I mostly go for the produce. Some of the farm places are pretty far away, like in West Virginia. So not super-local, which is a bit disappointing. There is a big selection though, and it is fresh.

I walk over with my bucket of compost because they have a collection there, and living in a townhouse with no yard I have nowhere to compost my coffee grounds, eggshells, and banana peels.

I regularly go to farmers markets, I plan to stop at one on my way home today. I also shop at farm stands. I try to support local farmers plus the taste and quality is way better than anything I can get at a grocery store.

Edit: if in CT check out the Coventry farmers market. It is described as a country fair every week and has won best farmers market in New England. Each week they have a theme. https://coventryfarmersmarket.org/

We have a few farmer’s markets near me that are open seasonally. We also have farms with stores attached and that is where I prefer to shop when we need some variety. We grow the vegetables that we eat the most ie potatoes, tomatoes, shallots, etc. and pumpkins, sunflowers, watermelon. Have lots of raspberry bushes.

Some people I know belong to a growing collaborative- where you get weekly or biweekly deliveries of produce dependent on what’s been harvested. I always thought that was something I might do in the future like in retirement when I have time to invest in trying new recipes.

All the towns around us, including our own, have farmers markets. They are about half produce, and the rest is meat, seafood, cheese, baked goods, plants. There is also a Chinese woman who does lovely dishes, and there is a food truck that does wraps and crepes. We go about twice a year. Frankly, most of the produce is just too expensive for us. SIL went last weekend for strawberries, and I'll go in August for tomatoes, but that's about it. Occasionally DH and I will go but we don't get much: Some bread, some cheese, maybe something fresh from the seafood stand.

There is a huge one in the next county, about an hour’s drive from where I live. They even have livestock auctions on Tuesdays. The big day for produce is Saturday. I have been a couple of times, but it’s kind of far so you lose a lot of the savings in gasoline.

Lots of farmers markets in the many towns by us. We go a few times in late July and August to buy the Mirai corn. It's an unbelievable tasting corn available for a limited time period.

Love them and try to go often, they tend to have wonderful small batch things like jams, honey, hot sauces, breads and lots of produce which suits me just fine.

There are a few farmer’s markets in my extended area. I go about every other month to one or another.

In summer I like stopping at local farm stands for fresh produce.

We have a few within probably 10 miles or so. Interesting that we rarely go to them when they offer great deals and variety of produce. I guess the grocery store convenience is a big draw and so is the air conditioning.

Missed your poll yesterday! Our town has a farmer's market, but it's Fridays midday and I always forget to go.

The town we're moving to in Florida has one every Saturday, though, so hoping to be a bit better!

Boy, does this bring back memories! My Dad was the manager of a Farmer's Market for about 15 years before he died. He had about a dozen farmers who'd be at the different locations 5 days a week (not all the farmers would be at all locations-he'd have 8-10 each day). He also worked out a deal with the city where they'd provide coupons for low income elderly every season, who'd "buy" the produce, then my father would get reimbursed by the city. I can how hard he worked, but how much he enjoyed the Farmer's Market (in Worcester, MA on the rare chance anyone knew him).
