There’s going to be different strokes for different folks with this topic. What is the topic? It’s cleaning your home before vacation. Some of us can walk out the door for their trip like they’re just walking out the door to go to the store and some of us can’t leave for their vacation unless the house is pristinely clean. There’s no right or wrong, just depends on the individual. So how about you? Give us your tidy clean answer today…..

How do you leave your home vacation - really clean or just however it is that day?
If you are a cleaner…..what do you mostly clean?
(multiple choice)

For Me……I am someone that wants to leave my house clean so I can come home to a nice clean house when I return. I keep my house pretty clean normally, but there are target areas that I focus on. So today, since I will have no time tomorrow (leaving Saturday, so no polls next week) will be clean all 3 bathrooms, dust, vacuum all floors and mop all floors, Tomorrow morning I will change our sheets (I must come home to clean sheets. If we weren’t leaving the house at 4am on Saturday morning, I’d do it then). I won’t be doing any laundry today, because my laundry is pretty caught up already. I don’t mind a slight amount of dirty laundry when I come home because then I can combine it with the dirty vacation clothes. My cleaning will go pretty quick since I keep a pretty clean house already.

Yes! I have always needed to clean my house before traveling. My family makes fun of me for it. I need things to occupy myself in the few days before we leave, when the packing is largely finished and we're now just waiting for the trip to start. The waiting makes me feel somewhat anxious and have a bunch of nervous energy, and if I'm cleaning, I'm not dwelling on the waiting. Plus it is very nice to return home to a clean house!

I chose other. I love coming home to a clean house, but I personally don't clean it. Our cleaning lady always feeds our cats for us while we are gone, so she also cleans right before we come home.

When I leave for my longer trips I always clean very well all around the house before I go. I'm gone for several weeks at a time so I have neighbors that check on things for me in my absence.

Clean my house top to bottom and sheets and laundry 🧺 I usually have someone staying at my house to take care of my pets and even though they will tidy up some I still have a house that I have to clean when I come home so I would like to get a Headstart on it before I leave technically I’ve had someone in my house for a week and I need to clean my house when I get home it’s a lot of pet hair!! Plus I need to change the sheets before I can go to bed so it would be amazing to come home to a clean house but that is never happened

We tidy up the house before we leave. We make beds, put away clutter, make sure the bathrooms and kitchen are clean. We keep the house pretty clean all the time, so there really isn't a lot to do. I always do laundry before we leave so that I have everything I need for the trip. :)

I clean house the same days every week.....upstairs one day, downstairs another.
I keep the same schedule when traveling.
In a couple weeks we leave on a Wednesday, so the regular cleaning will be done on Sunday and Monday.
The house is never dirty or messy anyway.
We get home on a Saturday, a week and a half later, and the regular cleaning will be done again on Sunday and Monday with an added grocery store run.

I clean and do every bit of laundry before we leave. It's bad enough having to come back to the real world after vacation; I don't want to come home to chores!

I do have a cleaning lady who comes twice a month. Sometimes, it aligns with our vacations, but if it doesn't, I clean and tidy up before we leave.

(leaving Saturday, so no polls next week)
Have a wonderful trip!!
The waiting makes me feel somewhat anxious and have a bunch of nervous energy, and if I'm cleaning, I'm not dwelling on the waiting.
SAME. 1000%
when I get home it’s a lot of pet hair!!
Yes, that too for us. I like to clean and have a headstart for when I get home. We have two longhaired cats, and there are tumbleweeds of fluff when we get home! :crazy2:

I prefer to come home to a cleanish house. The kids rooms are a wreck, but I will change my own sheets and make sure the living room, dining room and kitchen are tidy.
I don't have any kids living here, but between the bunk beds and toys for the grands, you'd think so.

I would like to do like Slo, but usually we'd go to disney right after Thanksgiving by a few days, so just getting ready for that , cleaning up and packing, I don't do more than a few rooms.

I change by bed and tidy up my room, but not much else. I just want to have a comfy bed after a travel day.

I tidy up before we leave, and I always change the sheets. We have a housekeeper that comes once a week, so that helps.
We usually have someone staying at the house as we have a dog that can't be boarded, and she's excellent about cleaning up after herself even though I tell her she needn't bother!

Nope - nothing out of the ordinary. If I felt compelled to, I’d need to take an extra day off before departure. Finishing up at work, squaring away last-minute details and packing are hectic enough.

Other - the cleaners will be at the house when we are away
They change the bed and I have laundry caught up before we leave.

Usually, we try to make sure everything's picked up and normally get caught up on laundry before we leave. That's about it.

I try to make sure there's no laundry waiting for me when I get home because I'll be bringing a bunch back with me (especially from a 2 week trip). Bathrooms get cleaned and the house is vacuumed. I may or may not do my sheets, it depends on how long they've been in use.

I am usually so busy before a vacation that doing a full cleaning would turn me into a miserable stressed out mess. I've never had a problem coming back to a house that wasn't spotless before a trip, but I'd have to hire someone to do it for me if I ever found it to be a personal must.
