I just call it the Studios. LOL

I usually just say Hollywood.

It's interesting - I went to MGM the first year it opened (or very early, the ToT wasn't open yet). I didn't go again until it was renamed, so maybe I just don't have an attachment to it. Still, it's just a name change.

I remember on the WDW planning VHS tapes you could request in the 1990's, the park was called "Disney Studios." I found this in an article about the tapes (https://attractionsmagazine.com/orlando-theme-park-vhs/):

"Only the 1996 tape calls Walt Disney’s World’s studio park Disney-MGM Studios. The rest drop MGM, with later releases painting over the offending half of the water tower and “A Day at the Disney Studios” digitally smudging the letters above the turnstiles. It’s a distribution hiccup and as much as you’ll ever see in official Disney publication about the belatedly contentious relationship with the company, which inspired a 1992 lawsuit at its worst."

We’ve been when it’s been both names. Within our family it’s strictly called MGM still but when discussing WDW or giving advice to someone going we call it Hollywood Studio so not to confuse them.

Usually just studios, but if I'm talking about a trip from when it was MGM I'll call it MGM.

And I definitely still call it Downtown Disney on both coasts.

My one and only trip to WDW was in 2002, 21 years ago now. While I may have known about the name change it’s not something I’ve ever thought about but at least the name makes sense. Now Downtown Disney to Disney Springs just doesn’t make since to me. Why the name change?

I tend to only talk Disney in RL with my sister, and she says 'MGM' all the time, so that's what I call it when talking. Now that I ponder about it, I guess I think of it as MGM in my head, too. I've been going there since my first WDW trip in 1992.

Since we only visit every 5-6 years, we rarely call it anything as it doesn't come up in conversation. I'm pretty sure I say the Studios. Dh always refers to it as Star Wars land because that is all he cares about.

I didn't know Downtown Disney had a new name. Our last trip was b4 Covid and we definitely called it DD.

We usually just call it the Studios. We have been visiting since it first opened and called it the Studios from the beginning. I think it’s probably due for a rechristening again, as the park has very little to do with actual studios anymore. It would be just as appropriate to call it Disney’s Hollywood Park or Disney’s Hollywood Kingdom.

Disney Springs will always be the LBV Shopping Village to us. We have been visiting it since it opened as well.

Among fam & friends it's just "Studios" on the board it's DHS. We also go back to the days of the Lake Buena Vista Shopping Village, I think I preferred it to what is currently there.

Never paid attention. Only been to WDW once and that was 6 years ago. Not sure I knew the name had changed.

Totally depends on who I'm talking to and whether they have the same level of nostalgia as me lol

It’s MGM I don’t think I’ll ever get out of that it’s downtown DISNEY I know I’ll never get out of that and if I’m talking to somebody new about DISNEY they look at me like I’m crazy they’re like what are you talking about DISNEY Springs just doesn’t relate to me I mean they’ve changed the name of that so many times it’s ridiculous
And I liked MGM so much better than Hollywood studios I’m so mad that they got rid of the great movie ride and a few other things at MGM Mostly the great movie ride
When my DD worked on the ride , it was literally the only ride in MGM that had ride in the name yet people would ask CMs daily, is this a ride? They joked about that and the people wondering what time the 3 o clock parade starts. It’s 4 o clock today. 🙄

When was this? We call it downtown disney.
When it first opened in 1975 it was called the Lake Buena Vista Shopping Village. In 1977 it was renamed as the Walt Disney World Village and then in 1989 it became the Disney Village Marketplace (before becoming Downtown Disney in 1997 and then Disney Springs in 2015).

Thank you. I really had no knowledge of the early years there. I'd lose at jeopardy on that one, big time.
