My DD had 2 piggies. They were very cute, if a bit smelly (lots of cage cleaning) and lived about 5 years. Missed them squeaking at me.

I never had a guinea pig, and didn't know anyone closely who had one. I think we might have had one as a classroom pet one year when I was in elementary school. However, I did have other rodents as pets as a child -- hamsters and rabbits.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to all for your kind words about our sweet Zoe passing away ❤️. I love our community here, and I’m grateful for each and every one of you :goodvibes ❤️

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about your loss, @slo

We (well, DS, but he was a kid at the time, so "we") had a guinea pig a few years ago, and it was tough when we lost him. His name was Freddie:

I love this picture so much ❤️
He looks like a real sweetie 💙
We have had 3 guinea pigs over the years. We had 2 brothers that lived to be 5 and a girl that only lived to be 3. We now have a rabbit that is 7 years old. Small animals are a lot of work and once Ruby is gone I am done with small animals. I love them but so much work.
Yes yes and yes! I don’t think people realize how much work goes into taking care of a small animal properly. We are also not getting anymore small animals.
Very sorry to hear this about your little Zoe, Sandy.'s Yes, always sad when our pets move on to the Rainbow Bridge. As you said though, Zoe is there now, romping and playing with her buddy Sophie, and so many others.

My best for you, Sandy, along with her best buddy, Kevin, and Katie. And yes, there are cucumbers and lettuce at the Bridge.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.

There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.

There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers.

Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge, together....

As for us, no guinea pigs, just dogs.

.
Thank you so much for this Dan! ❤️
This always makes me weepy when I read it. I wonder if the author had any idea, when he wrote it, how loved this would be by so many people.

They were both adorable. I’m so sorry for your loss. 💔💔

My nieces have had several piggies over the years. They are so cute, have so much personality, so chatty and fun! I would have guinea pigs maybe, but right now we have a little hammie, as well as DD/SIL/8year old, and our house is just FULL!

I never had a guinea pig. When I was young I think I recall some other families having them, but I haven’t known anyone with one for quite some time now. I definitely recall some childhood friends in the neighborhood had gerbils.

I never had a guinea pig but yesterday I was in PetSmart to buy a new kitty litter pooper scooper. They had several cute guinea pigs for sale.
