Curious. We had this discussion a few weeks ago with the family. What we saw, bar soap users tend to be older, the liquid soaps tend to be younger. But our sample size was small...

Everyone seems to agree basically any port in a storm. When traveling, many will use whatever the hotel has. But a few will bring their preferred soap along (and that was ALWAYS a liquid soap)...

Usually bar, but liquid if that's what's available. (For instance, DS and DH prefer liquid, so if we travel, I'll use that rather than bring two kinds.)

Well, my wife and I are 64 and started using liquid soap after remodeling our bathroom 7 years ago. The care instructions with our shower doors say liquid soap doesn't build up on the glass doors like bar soap. They were right. Much easier to keep clean by not using bar soap.

It depends on my mood. I have about a million bottles of bodywash and soaps, and I use them according to which one strikes me on that particular morning. This morning I used a vanilla and jojoba oil bodywash from SoftSoap, but tomorrow I'll probably use something else. I have a bunch of handmade soaps that I buy from vendors at various places; right now my favorite is the patchouli. Sometimes I use plain old Zest, because it was my grandparents' soap of choice and it reminds me of them.

I use a solid bodywash. I'll admit, it took me longer than it should have to make the connection that a "solid bodywash" is, for all intents and purposes, a bar of soap. 🤦‍♀️

It's good that I'm able to laugh at myself. 😆

I will use any of it. Right now I use Spongelle's which is a pre-soaped spongey thing. My DH is team Bar soap.

Liquid in the shower and foaming at my sink. My husband likes bar soap, so that’s what he has in his bathroom.

Bar and liquid soaps each have their pros and cons, but I think liquid soap comes out on top when it comes to travelability.

Bar soap gets pretty messy when you're traveling, unless it's totally dry. It gets slimy in a plastic bag or in a hard plastic travel container. I'd think that bar soap users are more likely to just use whatever is at the hotel than bother bringing it along.

Liquid soap, on the other hand, stays neater. So if you have a brand you prefer, it's easier to bring it with you. Sure, you might have to pull it out of your carry-on at TSA time, but most likely it's not the only liquid you're carrying (if you have soap, you probably also have at least toothpaste), so you'd be doing that anyway. Other than that step, yeah, I can see why people would more likely travel with liquid soap than bar soap.

Bar soap at home and when I travel. For traveling, I just keep the box (Dove) it came in and travel with the bar of soap. It doesn’t get nasty and gooey!

Back in the late 89’s my boss gave me a little sponge with a bowl in iit to pour the liquid soap. Maybe Jergens. Not sure. It was a sample thing. I was hooked. Never used a bar since Switched to a puffy thing though! Lol

I usually use Colonial Williamsburg Peppermint Liquid Soap. I have a few bottles left from the last time I bought, but it appears unavailable this season. They still have the bar soap, but since I travel all the time the liquid is more suitable.

I recently switched to bar soap but use liquid when I travel.

Now I’m using soap I bought at Costco. It’s an Australian botanical with goats milk. You get 8 bars in a box and they are huge!
