Many of us have or had pets in our lifetime. They could range from dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, hamsters, quinea pigs and etc. At one time that pet was a baby pet. I’m wondering today……

When was the last time you had a baby pet in your home?

For Me…..,Yesterday, which is what inspired this poll. We fell in love with this little guy and brought him home. He’s still without a name, so if anyone has a suggestion, please post it. We tend to like names that are Ss & Ks, but I doesn’t have to be. We originally named him Sullivan to call him Sully, but I’ve accidentally said Sophie (our last dog that passed away 2 years ago) several times yesterday, that I decided Sully won’t work - it’s to close to Sophie. So we’re back to the drawing board. I like Koda, from Brother Bear, but my DH isn’t convinced yet and I don’t want to dominate the decision. My DD20, who’s 2 1/2 hours away now is so bummed to not be with him, especially when the neighbor kids are FaceTiming her with him - LOL!

The reason why we like names that are Ss & Ks is because DD26 and I are an S names, DH & DD20 are K names. 2 of our dogs were S names and one was an I name, and he was an I name. He’s the only dog that didn’t fit in with our family and he went to be a police dog, one that goes to schools. He was a good boy, he just didn’t work out with us at the time (he was a black lab).

I can see why you fell in love with your "baby". :)

We haven't had any pets at all since the cat died about 16 years ago. It's nice to come and go without worrying about the pets that are left behind.

This year our pond goldfish have three babies that have made it thus far! Most eggs that hatch have fry that are eaten, but this year I have seen three that are swimming with the others. They are about 2 1/2 inches now, too large to be eaten! There are lots of places to hide in the pond, but some years no babies make it. Last year one did.

July 15th, I had my first sighting of this baby.

Early this year - two kittens 🐈‍⬛ had a time naming them - like picking Disney names but kind of went off track with these two

Your little puppy is so adorable !!! ❤️❤️ I vote for Kuzco - Emperor New Groove !!
Or Smokey or Stanley both from Disney movies

Good Luck with naming !! He’s so adorable!!! Congratulations!!! On your new family member !!!

I agree and I was liking the freedom too. My DH has been so sad without a dog, so bringing this little guy home was for him more than me. It’s definitely going to be a life adjustment. I haven’t had a puppy since 2008 and I’m tired :faint:

We adopted 2 kittens in early 2022, they are sisters. DW and I are retired so we spend a lot of time with them, and the grandkids are here often and they also enjoy our cats. We do travel and a family friend comes to check in on them once or twice a day. :cat: :cat:

ETA: Did a quick scan of WDW attractions for S & K potential names--the only thing that came close was Slinky. But your little guy doesn't seem like a Slinky. I think Sully is a great name but I understand your concern over the similarity to your former pet. He sure is cute!

I really can't remember having a puppy or kitten or other "baby." I adopted my current cat at about one year old. My sister did own my previous cat when he was a kitten, but he didnt't come to live with me until later. We did once have a stray mama cat have some kitties under our deck. We were able to adopt them out and get the mama fixed. She hung around for a while, but was more feral than her kittens were.

We haven't had a baby pet in many years. Our last cat died in 2012. She was 19.

But I do have a new grand baby.
He joined DS's family in January.
His name is Percy (after Percy Jackson)

This is my other grand furbaby. She isn't a baby anymore though. Those pictures are not easily accessible.
She is DD's baby. We do furbaby sit her when DD is on vacations.

I last had a baby animal when we got my dog Freckles in 1998. He was only six weeks old and had been rejected by his mother and was the runt of his litter, so I had to feed him female dog milk with a dropper for a while. He was a chihuahua/fox terrier mix and was so tiny he fit into my hand. They told us he'd always be small, but he grew to be the biggest one of his litter. He bonded to me right away, I guess at first because I was the one feeding him, but the bond stayed throughout his life. I got him when I was 19 and had him until I was in my thirties, 17 years. He passed in 2003. I haven't gotten another animal because we started moving around a lot and my Mom had cancer and I had to devote all my time to her. After she passed I moved in with my aunt, who doesn't like pets. If she was more amenable I'd probably have a cat.

Too cute, Sandy. And @GAN and @Meriweather also.

Last pups we had here were our two Siberian Huskies, Keemo and Tanya. About 2 years apart, about 45 years ago. No puppy pictures that I can quickly lay my mouse on but here they are all grown up. Doc, in my signature, really was Vince's guy, but Vince, still single at the time and not living at home with us, brought him to us to care for once he grew up, so not a pup with us.

@slo that is an adorable puppy! What about the name Scamp? I don’t know if you remember the Scamp comic strip, but Scamp is the son of Lady and the Tramp, so there is a Disney connection.

I am allergic to furry pets, so I have never had a baby pet.

We adopted two puppies in spring of 2019. One worked out...one did not (bad bite incident). The one that worked out was about 8 weeks old when we got her from the shelter. This little thing is now a little over 70 pounds. Her name is Voodoo.

As for names, we tend to gravitate towards fun and quirky. I don't know why, but Kipper jumped into my mind. At first I was thinking about eating herring, but I got a blast from the past. There's a cartoon dog that DD18 used to watch ages ago...based on a British book series...his name is Kipper.

When I was out jogging last week, I ran across some people with the cutest Husky puppy! I had to take a break and pet the little fella, of course.
