I have recently given up fried foods. They really don't agree with me anymore. However, if I were at DW or similar I'd have a treat food for sure.

Heads-up for corndog fans, the kiosk on the Boardwalk that used to sell pizza by the slice is switching over to hand-dipped corndogs.
....ummmmmm.....ew. [I didn't even like 'em as a kid!]

I usually love a good funnel cake. But, the last few times, the various booths don't crank up the oil hot enough. So, I've ended up with an under-cooked, curly-q piece of super-greasy dough. 🤮 At $8 a funnel cake, that's a lot of money to waste on a greasy sponge of dough. :(

On the other hand, we've been getting some interesting international food booths here at the street fairs. I love a good crunchy Thai spring roll.

I once tried a Mexican fried Arepas con Queso. It's two thin cornmeal pancakes the size of a large cookie, sandwiching melted mozzerella cheese in the middle. It sounded great, but the actuality was a bit bland. I thought it needed a flavorful dipping sauce like a spicy marinara. But, marinara sauces are Italian not Mexican. :duck: But salsas tend to be too chunky and watery.

Here in New England, we have a state fair for all 6 states called the Big E which is about 20 minutes from us. I haven't been in years but maybe I'll go this year to get a fried dough. Fun tip: at the Big E, there are "houses" for each of the 6 New England states. The houses have food and local vendors selling wares. In those houses, you are technically on that respective state's soil. They have state troopers from that state and that state is responsible for maintaining the condition of the house. The Maine house sold an amazing lobster roll.

OK, we can agree about clams but I can't get on board with the corn dogs. I can't stand them! Makes no sense. I love cornbread and adore hot dogs, but together? It's just wrong.
(ok, now I'm hungry...)

Don't go to fairs to often but will have a funnel cake or zeppole's when I'm there.

Yes I will eat that stuff... cheese curds, mozzarella sticks and stuff like that are some of my favs. Those and the deep fried pickles.
