Not today. Here in Canada, our May long weekend was last week. Although it’s not a traditional way to celebrate Victoria Day (Queen Victoria’s birthday, which is recognized throughout the Commonwealth), we did go to a BBQ at a friend’s place because it was such a beautiful day!
Our Memorial Day gathering is usually on the Sunday before - so we had our 20 guests or so yesterday - mostly catered for the entrees and everyone brings a side dish. Today, its a little more subdued - likely to do some grilling for the entrée and lots of leftovers to consume today.
We’ve been grilling all weekend—kielbasa and hotdogs and an evening fire with the neighbors on Friday, marinated chicken on the gas grill with my dad last night and probably something tonight—my guess would be kielbasa and hotdogs, maybe a few burgers.
I'll be grilling sometime this afternoon. I've got brats for me and my younger son, no idea if I'm grilling burgers and hot dogs for my wife and other son. My family is off at a lake cabin for the weekend.
Dh and I stained the deck and fence this weekend. Still letting the stain set before we replace the furniture, etc. on the deck. And resting our sore bodies today!
Dh will make chicken vegetable fried rice. Not tradional, but delicious!
We grill about 4 times a week, year round. So, these holidays have no impact on that. I'm not grilling today but I did grill burgers for dinner Friday night. We have leftover Cheesecake Factory from last night that will be dinner tonight. It's cold, overcast, amd drizzly here in So Cal today, so not feeling at all like summer is kicking off.
I am not grilling out today, but we grilled Saturday (chicken) and Sunday (burgers). Today, we have been invited to my in-law's... but I think we're having sub sandwiches. I was requested to bring deviled eggs.
We had a big Korean bbq dinner on Friday that I grilled. Now we're in sink project mode (husband installing a new sink, disposal, and faucet in the kitchen) and it's taking longer than expected. So no cooking. We're eating on disposable dishes and only eating stuff that is premade.
