DH bought a Nissan 240SX when it first came out (1989?). I STILL remember the payment amount from the little book they gave us ($375.77/month for 5 years).

We leased (and then purchased) a new Honda Civic sedan back in maybe 1996?

Since then, we've bought used cars -- two through CarMax (financed), two gifted to us from family members who were upgrading, and three paid for in cash, which is what we plan to do going forward.

Bought a 2022 Chevy Tahoe last September. Needed the third seat for drop offs and pickups of the four grandchildren at school.

Not by choice. I had a 2012 Mazda CX-9 that I LOVED...unfortunately the engine decided it no longer wanted to be part of the rest of the car and I was forced to get a new one...with the $6k I still owed rolled into the new loan 🤢
Not ideal, but replacing the engine cost as much as I owed on the car and it wouldn't have been worth it, not to mention finding a used engine would have had more miles on it than I had...sucky situation all around.

2021 after an accident where my cute little Honda Fit got totaled. We bought a Honda Passport and I love it! It was time for the upgrade. :)

DH and I both turned over our leases in 2021. He got a Toyota Camry Hybrid and I got a Mazda CX30. We'll be due for our next new ones in June of 2024.

Last bought cars in 1992 and 1996. Both still running. And not falling apart every other week. We have been blessed with good running cars.
I wish!! We've always had cars that run well but they rust out so badly that they don't pass inspection. In the winter they use a lot of salt on the roads up here, as well as a solution that keeps the roads reasonably ice-free. They say the solution won't damage cars, but I beg to differ. All the cars we've had in the last 20 years were "retired" due to extensive rusting of the frame and not because of mechanical issues.

My current vehicle is a 2014. Last vehicle was a 2000. So I won’t be due for a new car for at least another 5 years.

2022. Dh has the most recent car. It wasn’t the best time to buy but my son needed a car so dh gave his to him and he got a new one.

We only get new when we absolutely have to keep as long as we can so the last one was about 10 years at the moment. Hope I did not just jinx us.

I voted for other as I have never bought a new car before but I will be in the next few months.

My curret vehicle is a 2010 Ford Flex that I bought almost 7 years ago. It is time for an upgrade and I am at the point where I am not against the idea of buying another used car but I'm not buying one more than a couple 2 or 3 years old and for the model vehicle I want (Subaru Outback or Forester) vehicles only 2 or 3 model years old are usually only like $3 or $4k less than a brand new one and at that point I may as well just order exactly what I want new.

I don't have a car-don't drive. I live in New Jersey, and not being able to drive is a huge liability.

Traded in a 2019 Nissan Pathfinder in 2021 for a 2022 Hyundai Elantra. Bought new. The deal was too good to pass up and I wanted to downsize as I was driving more. The interest rate was 0.9% and 3 years full maintenance included. I will actually pay less for the car over 5 years than a co-worker who insisted on buying a 3 year old Honda with 40k miles on it. She needed new tires after 6 months that she didn't budget for.

Dad and I are most thankful for our Nissan Versa that we got in July 2016 and Honda Fit we got three years later in July 2019.

🙏for safe travels :car:and good memories through them for each of you!

Technically, not since we bought my wife's BMW X1 in 2016 or so. My current car (Nissan Pathfinder) was a dealer model, so while technically new, it had 5,000 miles on it.

Traded our small SUV for another Honda Odyssey van. We couldn't pack what we needed for vacation otherwise!!

Third Odyssey we've owned and love it. We are proud minivan drivers!
I loved my mini vans!!!
Everybody always made fun of me until they went into my Sienna and then they were like….hey, this is pretty nice and….wow, there’s a lot of room in here.
2016. Acura MDX. I loved my 2002 MDX (favorite car I ever had), this one is fine just not in love.

Dh’s car will likely become dd’s car when she turns 16 next year. It’s a 2006, so dh is due for a new ride. Not sure what he’ll go with.
This is exactly what we did with both our girls - they got my DH’s old car. This is the first car we actually bought for our DD19. The only reason why we bought this is because the other car was no longer safe - transmission issues.
The last new car was my husband’s 2015 Chevy. I drive a 2011 Chevy and will continue until it’s necessary to replace it.

I love your DD’s new car @slo ! I bet she was very excited!
Thank you!!
She is beyond excited and so so grateful.
Congratulations!! My son has one and loves it, it’s a great car.
Thank you!!!
This is good to know.
Oh nice! I'm just waiting on delivery of mine ...goes into production May 16th. 60th birthday gift to myself....

Wow….how fun!!
Very nice!!
I bet you can’t wait.

We both just got new vehicles - I got a Expedition and my husband got a F350.
I ordered mine in January of 2023, and he ordered his in August of 2022.

I have a 2019 Chevy Impala, last of the full sized sedans. Purchased 4 years ago. While working, I used to put on about 25,000 miles a year, leased a new car every 2 years. Now retired and no tax benefit to leasing any more, as well as knowing this would be the last of the full sized cars and reduced miles, this one I purchased. And I've only put on 35,000 miles over the past 4 years.

Marie has a 2004 Hyundai. It was her mom's, who passed away in 2006. We took the car, paid the last year of payments. It's been a great performer over the years, though getting a bit costly with repairs. She was ready to get a new Sonata just as the chip shortage/supply chain issues hit last year. Postponed over the past year. And over the past year, Marie took a disliking to the 2023 front end of the Sonata (apparently others have also, a big change for 2024). But in the coming months, Marie will get a 2023 Honda Accord Hybrid, unless perchance she continues to delay, then maybe a 2024 Accord.

I just got my dream car 6 weeks ago! DH was driving a 2005 Subaru with 180,000 miles, but it needed about $3000 of work and we decided it wasn’t worth putting that much money into. I was driving a Toyota Tacoma that we bought new in 2011. DH took over the Tacoma as his daily driver, and I got a 2023 Mustang! I really having fun and enjoying driving again!D667CA11-CA42-4F11-BFED-173F20624A92.jpeg

2010, my Subaru Outback. Our other car in 2008. We would like to get rid of both and buy a fully electric car soon. We don't drive much any more, don't need 2 cars. Just waiting on supply to ramp up more.
