DW has a family recipe using fresh green beans we eat every Thanksgiving. I grow green beans in our garden and will eat those as long as they last. Other than that - meh. there are other vegies I would rather eat.

I didn't grow up having casseroles so I guess I just don't have the taste for them even though I want to love them. I did try green bean casserole ages ago but the onions on top struck me as sort of salty waxy something and I REALLY wanted them to be regular onion rings only smaller & haven't tried again. Same thing happened with tuna casserole, unexpected tastes just threw me off. It is also entirely possible that the people who made these things were terrible cooks who ruined it and I would never know since I had nothing to compare. I'd try it again but I have literally never seen it on a menu ever. We do love hot fresh green beans tossed in butter and also either fresh or canned tossed in hot oil with some garlic saute'd in it, we love our fresh veggies.

I will be making Green Bean Casserole. I like it on the "just a bit overcooked side" which means it stays in the oven at least 8-12 minutes longer than any recipe says it should. I make the standard recipe and there are never any leftovers.
