If you are anything like me….you need to leave yourself reminders. Some people have minds like a steal trap and remember everything, which I’m very jealous of BTW - LOL! Post-It Notes, or just sticky notes, are a great way to leave yourself reminders. I just had to buy some, which is what inspired this poll. They’re kinda expensive, and I normally try to buy them when there’s back to school sales, but this year I forgot - I should’ve left myself a post-it note to remind me :lmao:. Give us your sticky answer today…….

Do you use Post-It Notes?
If yes…..how much do you use them?
(multiple choice)

For Me…… I use Post-It notes a crazy amount of times a week, sometimes a crazy amount of times a day. I use them at work and I use them at home. I especially use them most at work. I used to think that I could remember things, little details about work things, but I finally said I can’t, and if I need to remind myself then so be it. Whoever created sticky notes is a genius

I love Post it notes, but rarely use them. I have them on the large envelopes for trips marking dates and where to.
I make a lot of lists, but usually just use paper. I get so many free notepads come in the mail.

I use them all the time. Sometimes for work stuff but mostly home stuff. (I work from home so it's all at home). I make my grocery list on them, and then stick it to the cart handle as I'm walking around the store. My big grocery orders are all online, and I only really go into the store for stuff like most produce, seafood/meat, prepared foods, etc, so the post-it note is plenty big enough for my list. We keep a stack on the counter and add to the list whenever.

I use the Pot It Notes at home. Used to use with work also before retired. U probably use daily. I prefer the brighter colored ones from Costco, easy to see amongst the clutter haha. I use the 2 X 2 size. When working, I used the larger and the smaller sizes also.

Arthur Fry with a Post-it note on his forehead
In 1968, Spencer Silver, a scientist at 3M in the United States, attempted to develop a super-strong adhesive. Instead, he accidentally created a "low-tack", reusable, pressure-sensitive adhesive for the aerospace industry.[12][13][14][1] For five years, Silver promoted his "solution without a problem" within 3M both informally and through seminars, but failed to gain adherents. In 1974, a colleague who had attended one of his seminars, Art Fry, came up with the idea of using the adhesive to anchor his bookmark in his hymn book.[15][16] Fry then utilized 3M's sanctioned "permitted bootlegging" policy, which allows employees to spend some of their work time on projects of their own choosing, to develop the idea.[16] The original notes' canary yellow color was chosen by chance, from the color of the scrap paper available at the lab next door to the Post-it team.[17] Fry provided 3M employees with a prototype of the product, and individuals started exchanging messages, demonstrating the product's communicative effectiveness.[13]

3M test marketed the product as a "Press 'n Peel" in stores in four cities in 1977, but results were disappointing.[18][19] A year later, 3M launched a massive marketing campaign known as the Boise Blitz.[1] This campaign involved renaming the product to "Post-it Note" and giving out free samples to offices in Boise, Idaho.[13][20][1] This time, results were promising as more than 90 percent of those who received free samples indicated they would buy the product.[18] Post-its were launched across the United States in 1980.[20][21] The following year, they were launched in Canada and Europe.[22]

Post-it Flags were introduced as a new way to organize with color coding, filing and indexing.[13]

In 1995, Post-it Easel Pads were introduced. The following year, Post-it Easel Pads for kids were introduced.[12]

In 2003, the company introduced Post-it Brand Super Sticky Notes, with a stronger glue that adheres better to vertical and non-smooth surfaces.[23]

In 2014, 3M released Post-it Super Sticky Dry Erase Surface, an instant dry erase surface that is stain-free and customizable to quickly fit on walls, cabinets, desks and more.[13]

In 2018, 3M launched Post-it Extreme Notes, which are more durable and water-resistant and which stick to wood and other materials in industrial environments.[24]

In 2019, the Post-it App was relaunched.[13]

In 2020, 3M released the Post-it Flex Write Surface – a whiteboard surface that can be written on with dry erase and permanent markers without leaving stains behind when cleaned with water and soap. The company also released Post-it Foil Tabs, which were a revamp of the Post-it Tab with the purpose of satisfying the rise of personalization and bullet journaling trends of customers.[13]

In 2021, 3M revealed a new logo and launched Noted by Post-it Brand – a collection of paper goods and desktop applications.[13]

I have a Post-It notepad just inches away from me right this minute. :) I like using the notes as a bookmark when traveling since regular bookmarks are prone to falling out of the book with all that juggling. I also used them at work. They are really handy. :)

During me career, I did use them somewhat often. Now that I am retired, I only use one for a quick phone number, etc. It's basically a no more use for me.

Don't use them any more. Used to use them a lot at work but don't need them now that I'm retired. I actually have an unused pack in my old home office right now. I tend to make notes for myself on my phone now or just a plain ole pad of paper.

I used to keep a few around my desk in the office, but I was never big on them. It's probably a good thing because they're heavily discouraged in a lot of corners of corporate America these days due to security concerns. Those that did use them often had little helpful reminders, but those helpful reminders sometimes tied to info that could lead to a security breach. So, no more Post It sticky notes.

My 2024 planner has several on the back page for appointments I have scheduled for 2025 that I will enter in my 2025 planner when I get it. I most frequently use them to write addresses down if I am going somewhere I have not been before and stick them on the dashboard of my car, or to write down a part number of something I need at the hardware store.
Funny thing is, I don't ever recall ever actually buying Post It notes. Most of the ones we have are promotional giveaways. I have several pads of Post It notes from the "Ellen Show". We inherited a bunch from my MIL when she passed that we still have and she passed over 25 years ago. My mom was an RN and she had a bunch from drug and medical supply companies that we inherited she she passed 11 years ago. She retired in 1985 so she had had those a long time before we got them.
