In all honesty….do you consider yourself an optimist or a pessimist?
For Me…..I’m a total optimist, but I’m also a realist.
If a situation proves that hope is lost and the realism shows something else, then I’m optimistic that the something else will have goodness with it.
Same here. I picked 50/50 but I honestly don't feel like either. I'm not a pessimist, but sometimes the reality of the situation is negative and I'm just real about that fact. Being "optimistic" in the face of facts generally doesn't work for me either but if facts tend to skew towards the positive, I embrace that fully and can be very optimistic. So realist/pragmatist--that's me.
I am an optimist - I always see the best in people and situations. My work friend told someone once that I didn't see the glass as half full, I always saw it as overflowing.

My motto is that you can't worry about what "is". When you start to worry about things you can't control, it can make you sick or sad. I choose to be happy. People tell me that they never see me without a smile on my face. I don't think that's true, but I'm an upbeat, happy, optimistic person.
Pessimist on the inside, no doubt, even though I have a fairly sunny exterior. You can’t go around acting like you’re under a rain cloud, because it really affects everyone around you negatively. For me though, on the inside I NEED to run every scenario through to it’s worst possible outcome. Somehow doing this soothes my fear of the unknown and gives me confidence that I can handle life, come-what-may, by the grace of God. And as an added bonus, every good outcome is a delightful surprise!
