Last time we went my youngest son wasn’t tall enough to ride. They gave us a complimentary return pass for him. They said it would get him to the front of the line without a fast pass. Here is my question. Will it get our whole group through as a fast pass or only him?

If it's just the one fastpass then I'd assume just him

I'm curious because I've never seen any of those courtesy FP be valid after your stay was over (for later stays). Most expire either the next day. I would definitely verify its even still valid for a later return trip before diving in to whether the pass will cover multiple people...but I suspect if they issued one FP it's just for him.

I say fast pass but its really not. Its a card they gave us and they said we could bring it back any time we returned even if it was in 10 years. The info on the card is very vague though

I have seen those done to help ease the blow to a child to small to ride something... kind of like a little certificate. I dont know how many people it is good for though, but I doubt they would make him ride it alone...
yes that's exactly what it was. that was all he wanted to ride and he was so close to being able to ride.

https://chipandco.com/slinky-dog-dash-complimentary-return-pass-313820/ This says with their family. I'd apply some standard disney "family" sizing - a group of 4 is probably fine, a group of 6 iffy and more than that I'd expect they'd say no unless you have special circumstances.

My son got one last November for 7dmt and they specifically stated he could hold onto it until he was tall enough to ride. So obviously that’s not next day 😃

Why would they give a kid who is too a short a fastpass to use on that same trip? Are they anticipating a well timed growth spurt?

Thanks. Our group will be 9 next time we go. I figured my family of 4 would work but was questioning all 9 of us.

This reminded me that my younger daughter was given a "backstage pass" to use on a future trip when she was too short for Rock 'n' Roller Coaster. I'll have to look to see if we still have it to use in August.

We got something like that years ago. It was Disney magic:

We were in Hollywood Studios just about the time Fantasmic was starting, so the crowds were thinning out. My husband and older daughter were riding Rock-and-Roll Roller Coaster over and over: they were exiting the ride, running back to the entrance and riding again. They rode 5-6 times.
I was sitting on a low stone fence with my younger, too-short-to-ride daughter, who was crying and kicking the fence because she wanted to ride too.
A cast member saw her, asked what was wrong, and he said his friend Tinkerbelle might be able to help. He disappeared for a moment and returned with a fancy certificate "from Tinkerbelle" with her name on it. The certificate said that when she was tall enough she AND ONE OTHER PERSON could cut to the front of the line for Rock-and-Roll Roller Coaster. He also gave us a pass to be seated in a special section of Fantasmic.
We hadn't planned to attend Fantasmic, but the pass changed our mind. The cast member at the gate took our pass and said, "I'll get you there!" He zoomed us through the crowds in a way we couldn't have done ourselves and found us great seats. (Off-topic: Fantasmic is awesome.)
It worked: she stopped crying and was so proud to have the certificate (back at home she had me frame it), and she was so proud that she "got us those seats". She talked and talked about it, completely ignoring the fact that she "got us those seats" by throwing a major trantrum and kicking a stone fence.

Several years later, we did use the certificate for Rock-and-Roll Roller Coaster. They let the whole family go to the front of the line -- they didn't have to do that, and we were prepared to watch the two kids ride while we parents were denied /told to hit the end of the line.
Full disclosure: I had a color copy of the certificate made /took that to the parks because my daughter was loathe to part with it. They did not take the certificate, so presumably we could keep using it ... forever, maybe? I am 100% sure my daughter still has that thing squirreled away somewhere.
