How about adding a third option - maybe Carrousel of Progress?

I say that because I find the two options to be very, very different. Not anything I'd think about when considering if something is better than the other. For what they are, I think they are both good examples of the state of the art.

While I know it’s more a “kid” coaster, I think I like SDD more. At least for re-rides while we are there. One ride on TT is enough (although we do usually try to get 2), but I prioritize getting a few in on SDD.
Exactly this. These are 2 difficult rides to compare as they're nothing alike, but Slinky for me is made for re-rides whereas once on TT is enough. The theming on Slinky even in the queue makes it such a fun ride to do over again.

I also don't really consider these comparable rides. One is a coaster primarily for children. Test Track, whichever version, is really an experience geared for the entire family. "Better" is subjective and depends on what your criteria is.

When designing Slinky, Mack somehow created a ride that has a visually interesting profile, yet is almost completely forceless. I know that is part of the point---this park desperately needed more family-friendly rides---but it's a "I suppose if there's nothing else to do" attraction for me. And because the line is almost always bananas, I rarely get on it.

True- however there are many parents and grandparents with young kids who love the ride. I think I would skip that entire area of HS if I didn't have a 6-year-old who made it a priority

Oh, I totally get that! Like I said, I understand why it is what it is---there is a bolt for every nut. It's just not for this nut...
