Does anyone have a slingshot camera bag that they use for DLR? I'm looking into one for our DLSR for DH to carry, but not sure if it'll work good at DL and on rides. We are looking at the Lowepro 202AW version. Thanks!

How much kit have you got? The 202 stores quite a lot of gear (something in the region of 4 lenses, SLR with a 5th lens attached, potentially a 6th in the pocket at the top).

I'm looking for the same bag, but only because my "base" kit is DSLR + 5 lenses. If I could get away with it, I'd prefer a 102 that still holds DSLR + 1 lens, 2 extra lenses and MAYBE a 4th in the top pocket.

Ukstitch -- We don't have much, just a D90 with 2 lenses. I was looking at the 102 first and DH said to get the middle size bag??? What do you think? I've never seen either in person. I'd like for it to also hold a camcorder. We are looking for a new one of those too for our trip next month to DL. All I can find here in the stores is the really low end stuff and it's driving me crazy.

I have the Lowepro 200AW. I love it! BUT it's heavy (ten pounds) with my Canon 40D. I actually pulled a muscle hauling it around Alaska for eight straight days!

And I don't find it has any room for any of the other stuff I carry at DLand. (Sigh. It's a neverending battle for me to cut back!) So I use a regular student backpack with my own 'custom' foam padding (read that: hacked to fit with a pair of scissors, not pretty, but it works). Your mileage may vary.

I use the Slingshot in almost every other circumstance. LOVE IT!

It sounds to me like you'd be better with the 102 AW. I think it would definitely fit all your equipment that you have now and still leave you a spare lens compartment and the top pocket.

The 202 AW would leave you with an awful lot of free space and unless you're looking at expanding some time soon, you may well wish for the smaller bag after carrying it around the parks all day.

If the camcorder you're looking at is a small pocket style one then this may well fit into the remaining lens compartment.

The only consideration is that you could get the 202 and use it as a general bag - put things you may normally store in the 3 empty lens compartments and the top pocket :thumbsup2

Thanks! That is what I was thinking about the extra space. We could put some snacks, and other things for the parks inside also. I wish I could find a store here fast that sells them so I could really see the difference in size, etc. But we don't want to be carrying around something with all this empty space that nothing else can fit in or creat extra weight/bulk.

I just got back, my DH carried a messenger bag (actually the Timbuk2 Snoop bag) that had a camera insert and I had one extra lens in there. For the most part, I wore my camera cross body with a strap similar to a Black Rapid strap. I found I only used my bigger lens once, and that was during the fireworks, the rest of the time I was content with my kit lens.

During the water rides everything went in that bag, and we used plastic bags for the things we didn't want to get wet. The Snoop bag has a rubber lining.

Just got back yesterday. I used my Lowpro fastpack 200. I was able to carry an extra shirt and a few small things on the top part. on the bottom which is the camera compartment I had my 60d with lens as well as 4 other lenses. I like the backpack better I was not comfortable with the crossbody. I also went and looked in shops and tried them on and looked to see if it had room for my other items I like to carry. This was the best fit for me.

I use a Fastpack 100. That should hold 2 lenses plus the body and flash. Although it won't hold too much else. I wouldn't go with with a Slingshot or any single strap bag. As the day goes on, it'll just get tiresome.

I throw the lenses and the cam into a backpack and has worked well for many years. Currently using a 7D-EF-S. I am cheap. Also have a Nikon D-5000 for the p and s stuff
