So I will be traveling with my 14mo dd and I was wondering what type of sling would work best for her?? I figured I would need one when we are waiting in line.. Has anyone else used one?? If so did it work well for you?:confused3

while I never did Disney with a sling I have used one in other theme parks. I would vote for whichever one you are already comfortable with. But keep in mind the heat in the summer.

I would think the coolest one may be a really simple ring sling (just a light fabric (cotton) with the metal ring). You can wear it on your hip to help distribute the weight of the baby, and it's easy to fold up and put away. Ergo carriers are nice but bulky (and expensive)....The only one my kiddo hasn't outgrown is my wrap style and my ring sling. And the ring sling is definately the less bulky and lighter of the two. Hope you find something! I bought mine from a work at home mom on Ebay for something like $20.:)

If you want quick popability I would suggest a pouch or ring sling - there are advantages and disadvantages to both.
They both come in lightweight summer materials that would be good!

i have a pool pouch made of solarveil material which is a great sun block. i like to bring it because its light too.

if you arent using it for a main carrier (meaning the child will be in a stroller most of the time), i would stick with a pouch or a ring sling, something you can fold up and throw in a diaper bag easy. a mei tai if you can fold it up neatly would work also.

depending on if our dd is walking or not by the time of our trip determines what slings im all bringing. if she can walk or stand by herself, i will just take the pool pouch.

I would say a mei tai sling, or a ring sling. I have a ring sling in fact that I need to sell if your interested. I like my carebears sling better. :) So sea turtles can go.

I love my Maya Wrap (ring sling) and I also will be taking a solarveil ring sling made by an awesome woman on eBay which I can wear at the water parks and in the pools.... The solarveil, as a previous poster said, blocks harmful sun rays, is breathable, lightweight and dries very quickly. I actually think the solarveil sling I had custom made on eBay is more comfy than the Maya Wrap!!! (PM if you want the seller ID of the woman!)

I loved my Hotsling that I used with dd. I had one made from Solarveil too for boating and the pool. I used it on a Panama Canal cruise and many times people didn't realize I was carrying a baby. In stores, I was often followed until dd stuck her foot her hand out. The employees thought I was shoplifting! When I wasn't using it, I just popped it into my bag.

I found a lady on ebay that makes them fairly cheap.. I think it is KimzKreations?? has anyone used her?

YES! That's her... Kim is awesome. High quality, fast turnaround and wonderful service... my review is in her feedback :-)

I had tried so many ring slings, but could never work any of them well. I decided I to stick to a front pack, but then I found the Premaxx baby bag which I loved. I’ll still use it for DS2 on the hip when he’s sick and insists on being held at all times. He's average size, not large, but the sling has no problems with him in it.

Anyhow, if you know people who have slings, see if you can borrow one for a day or two until you find what you like.

I used our ring sling (Over The Shoulder Baby Holder) at both Disney and Sea World back in 2006 and 2007. DS was 22 months and 28 months. He napped in there a few times during our trip. It was so convenient to have along while waiting in line where the stroller couldn't go.

I have a ring sling that I use all the time. We brought our oldest DD to WDW when she turned one and I used during the whole trip. It was great!

I'm a mei tai wearer myself- babyhawk toddler hawk, and carry my 28lb+ baby everywhere, we don't have a stroller.

Mei tais can take a while to get used to tying quickly so might not be ideal for one and off rides if you're not used to them but they are fabulous at distributing weight of heavier, taller babies & toddlers. (Also biiiig bonus is my DH can wear our 5 year old in it if he falls asleep LOL - i can manage our 4 year old but our 5 year old is a big boy!)

I know connecta (a soft bodied carrier based on mei tai but with buckles) sell a solarveil one with hood, they're a UK based company though.

At your daughter's age, I found that the Maya Wrap would hurt my shoulders after short time, especially if I was standing in one place. I would look for something that distributes the weight more evenly between both shoulders.

I have a soft-structured carrier. Mine's an Ergo Baby Carrier, but I think the Beco and Papatum are other SSCs. (You can see a the Ergo in my avatar pic.) Once you get the hang of it, it's very easy to put the child in and out and they are very comfortable. We visited WDW for 2 days when DD was 18 months old. We didn't even take our stroller into the parks. DH and I would "argue" over who had to carry the diaper bag (backpack) and who *got* to carry DD -- because the Ergo was more comfortable! LOL!

How can I search ebay for that vendor? I would love to see what kind of slings she makes

type in baby slings in the search part and then just scroll down until you see her slings..

hey you guys are going to WDW the same week we are!! Where are yall staying?

I carried my 12 month old dd in a carrier a lot while at the parks our last trip. The ergo carrier and the sutemi carrier. I went with the sutemi because it was a little less expensive. It was really great, I could carry her for long periods of time very easily. She even fell asleep a couple of times. You can wear the baby on the front, back or on the side. Here is the website:

Here are a few pics of me wearing her:
