Slings

http://www.thebabywearer.com/ Check that website out..its the best and has TONS of great info!!
I would personally go with a Mei Tei (Babyhawks are my favorite)or a solarveil ring sling..My favorite RS's are from http://sleepingbaby.net/ they are SOO comfy!!! A pp suggested a Solarweave Connecta..they are awesome if you can find one..there were a few on FSOT on the thebabywearer website the other day!!

DD found her old Hotsling this week and was bummed it's too small to wear comfortably. She's 5 and 48lbs and we both are hot-natured... umm... NO! LOL! But we loved them when she was littler and they're fabulous for traveling!

I carried my 12 month old dd in a carrier a lot while at the parks our last trip. The ergo carrier and the sutemi carrier. I went with the sutemi because it was a little less expensive. It was really great, I could carry her for long periods of time very easily. She even fell asleep a couple of times. You can wear the baby on the front, back or on the side. Here is the website:

Here are a few pics of me wearing her:

First off your dd is absolutely adorable!! I love the pigtails!! Second I am going to check out that site.. my dh would be more comfy with me getting a sling like that. Does it do a good job of evenly distributing the weight??

thanks so much!! I think this wil be great helping me find what I am looking for!! There are just soooo many options to choose from.:confused3

type in baby slings in the search part and then just scroll down until you see her slings..

hey you guys are going to WDW the same week we are!! Where are yall staying?

We're staying at POP. Can't wait for DD first trip to WDW

I have a bunch of slings and carriers (maya wrap, moby wrap, kangaroo korner adjustable fleece pouch and a babyhawk mei tai), but I ended up borrowing a Beco from a friend for our trip in December.

Ds turned two during our trip and weighed about 31 lbs or so. If I hadn't borrowed the Beco, I would have definitely used my mei tai. I found the Beco to be a bit easier to use, more quickly.. because of the buckles.

I do love my mei tai though and purchased it specifically w/ a more girly fabric on one side w/ a more generic fabric on the other... that way dh wears it too!

We were equally likely to wear ds at WDW... in fact, we took a "family" picture at Epcot on night on the way out of the parks w/ dh carrying a sleeping ds in the Beco and me pushing dd (6.5yo) crashed in the stroller!

It is a great shot!

My on ditched the sling when he started walking :-(
We're bringing an umbrella stroller (that I doubt he'll sit in) and a monkey harness I got yesterday (not very AP but I'd rather not have him run off)
I would say a Maya Wrap or ring sling would probably ork best for a toddler though. We never made it that far- he was in a pouch till 9 months and was never interested again after walking.

Ooh, this thread has me jealous, lol!

I have many, many different slings from when dd was younger . . . but, I just don't think any will work for us with our next trip. She'll be 2.33yo, so only a MT/SSC would do well (to distribute weight), and while I LOVE my Beco . . . I just can't see putting us body to body in Orlando's September heat! {sigh}

I bought a playtex hip hammock for DD1. We have been using a baby bjorn, but she's getting a bit too long for it. Plus, it's not as comfortable for my shoulders as i'd like, even though she's not very heavy.

I've never used a proper sling, but I think the hip hammock does the same job for older babies. :thumbsup2

I have many slings, carriers and love my ergo and babyhawk although the long ties on the babyhawk take some getting used to and I hate it if they drag on the floor when I am putting it on. I made my own solarveil ring sling and use that sometimes still in the summer as I like how it has UV protection but it is alittle rougher than a regular sling or hotsling (which I loved when she was younger.) The only one I don't like too much is the mammasmilk sling/pouch as it is supposed to be easy to adjust but is so not easy...I use that one the least. So my most used disney trip sling/carrier would have to be the ergo as then I really can have two hands free to take photos or grab my DS from running off! Hotslings are real nice too but I feel like I really need to hold on to the baby to make sure she doesn't wriggle out.

We used the monkey harness in WDW during our trip as well. Ds would never want to be in the Beco or MT voluntarily at 2yo...but he loved the Beco when he was tired!

The monkey harness was for the time he spent out of the stroller (a lot since we can't have the strollers while in lines, etc.) and was WONDERFUL. Ds wasn't thrilled about using it, but it offered him way more space to move around in and independence than if we weren't using it.

Hey and I think it is very AP... AP is all about meeting your child's needs and IMO ds needed this based on his personality. Dd never needed it... she never bolted away from us and was quite content to hold hands....totally the opposite for ds!

ugh bad news.. those are being discontinued :(

That's ok, you may be able to find one on e-bay. I sold mine a couple of months ago or I would gladly pass it along to you. Yes it did distribute the weight evenly, it was really fantastic. I wore her for hours at a time and she was over 20 pounds and I have a pretty small frame.

Check out the ergo carrier too, I know those are available on e-bay. They are very similar and have gotten really great reviews. I chose this one because it was a little less expensive.

I agree to check out the Ergo -- they both seem to be very similar. Here's the Ergo. (It can be worn in the front or on the hip, but DD and I prefer the back carry.)
