How come I can't find any value resort rooms for a couple nights stay?

Recently, if I'm able to find a good flight, I've been doing some last minute trips to Disney World for a couple of days. However, I've had to stay off property because I can't find anything reasonable on site.

For example, I'm looking to take two of my kids down in a couple of weeks. Looking at 3/1-3/4. However, the cheapest room is at the Coronado Springs. It seems like a nice resort, but we're down there to do the parks and then fly home, I'm really just looking for a bed on property.

Does it just boil down to Disney not making enough off a few nights stay at the values to offer them, or is there another reason?

It's always worth giving them a call, but there's a strong chance that they're sold out. It's worth checking out the usual priceline/expedia/orbitz sites because I've seen rooms available on there that don't show on Disney's webpage.

It is Disney's computer algorithm. They prefer to rent rooms in longer blocks to prevent orphan rooms, so they often won't show shorter stays. You'll have to call or check other sites as suggested, like orbitz or or expedia.

There are a good number of moderate rooms that are not available due to refurbs/building demolition, so that has pushed people who normally stay at moderates to the values...or the orphan room algorithm is working against you. If you can find a room for a longer amount of time 2/28 to 3/5, it's probably the algorithm.

I booked my trip probably two months ago and it was slim pickings for those date then. I'd would have really preferred to stay at POP or another value but I couldn't get more than two nights in a row so I ended up at CBR. I think there is just not as much inventory at the value and moderate level with all the construction going on.

thanks for the orphan trick, going to try that before calling. i need a thursday and friday night and see nothing in value at all

As others have said, with major projects happening at both Coronado and Caribbean Beach inventory at the values and other moderates has been tighter than usual as people book other resorts to avoid the construction impact on their stays.

Yes - I agree with you as well as the pp who mentioned the algorithms! We often change rooms due to the size of the party; this next trip we have 7 of us in OKW 2 bedroom but my dd and I are staying two additional nights. I could not find a moderate for 2 nights for the longest time but I just kept checking and finally CSR came up - not my first choice but I took it.

fwiw I had a similar issue in December and eventually gave up and booked the Dolphin.

This is also the beginning of college spring breaks. We just booked at a Disney Springs resort since we couldn't find a value or moderate available on property.

You have to play around with it. If it lets you book for 4 nights, do that, then call and have them take off the last 2 nights. Last time I was checking, it would come up with a room for 1 night, then I put in the next night as a separate reservation and it was available. Same room type, same resort, so silly. My friend had to do this, then she had to call and combine the reservations. Their system is really annoying, I have to say!

You used to be able to do that but not anymore. There would have to be availability for those 2 nights as a separate reservation.

if you use kayak.com, it will do a "hacker" booking that looks up the one night availability for you (not on disney's site, on sites like priceline)... and then it makes the two separate reservations for you.

Like already suggested book for more nights and call to change your reservations to the nights you need. We also found this is a problem sometimes trying to book a table for two at some restaurants. Now if we have a problem we book the table for 4 and after have the confirmation number change the count to two people.

This will require speaking to Guest Services. Now, they have the ability to override the system but sometimes they say no.

kept stalking and got my 2 nights at AS Sports! Will keep stalking and hopefully switch to movies or pop.
