My dd is 12 and has been wearing Justice skinny jeans in slim sizes. She now needs a 16 due to her height but they don't make slim sized jeans past size 14 at Justice. The 0 and 1 size jeans in the mall shops (American eagle etc) are too big and cost a fortune. have you found slim jeans for older girls?

Have you tried Old Navy? I used to get them for DD (when I was still allowed to buy her clothes:laughing:)

Aeropostale has 00 and their jeans are $18 this week - about the same as Justice. American Eagle also has size 00 -- watch for sales -- we don't pay over $20 for a pair of jeans there. (my dd is a 2 Long - also hard to find.)

Try 00- you might have to order them but AE, Hollister, etc... all make them. Also, try Pac Sun. Their clothes run really small. When DD14 was just starting to want the teen clothes at 11. It was the 00 and Pac Sun that worked.

If you need to order from AE, they will do it in the store and ship to your house at no charge.

Expensive but buckle has them. Less expensive A&F... Also the ones mentioned above by pp. It is not a simple problem and we have not found a cheap solution...

While it is not a perfect solution I have altered pants easily buy taking in the sides.
I did this for the Marching Band. I altered size 14 pants into size 4 skinny capris.
I had the girls try them on, marked the outer leg to where they should fit and then simply sew from the bottom of the pants up the outer leg to the hip. I worked for their pants which where mainly cotton part stretch.

Maybe find a pair of pants at a thrift store to practice on.

My DD is 13 is almost 5'4" with very long legs and can wear a size 00 skinny or super skinny from Aeropostale, American Eagle and Delias with a belt. A website where they also have them on sale for good prices sometimes is Zumiez.com. They really have a lot of skate/snowboarding stuff but I have had good luck with their sales.

Good Luck! I feel your pain.

Are they too big or just too long? The waist and hip measurements of a girls size sixteen are larger than for a junior size zero. Generally junior sizes have longer limbs and narrower torsos. The waist is more defined in junior clothing compared to girls sizes. There are shorter inseams available in junior sizes but you may need to order them.

If it comes down to having to alter the clothes I would choose to hem the legs rather than to have to take in the hips and waist. Taking in the waistband on jeans is too complicated for most home seamstresses. And just taking in the outsides of the hips pulls the rear pockets to the outside while narrowing the opening to the front pockets.

I have the same problem for DD11. She wears the A&F kids 16 slim (which are pricey). She also makes out well in the Aero 00 long in the skinny or super skinny styles. Even buying these she still should use a belt but she doesn't like them. DH gets upset about the fitted look of the jeans but we really don't have much choice. She cannot stand adjustable waists. Another option she really likes are the jeggins. They are very comfortable and very fitted. The waist is still too big but the overall fit is fine.

I've gotten my dd size 00 at PacSun on clearance for under $10 sometimes.

My DD is 12 and we have had luck at Delia's and the Levis in the junior section at Kohls

Thanks everyone, will head to the mall this weekend for AE and Areopostale. I think $20 would be my upper limit on jeans for her.

They are too big in the waist and even in the thighs. They are skinny jeans but really baggy on her legs too.

Unfortunately, I can't give you advice on jeans under $20. Now a days, I'm happy if they are under $50!

But my dd is the exact same. Last year the 14slims were ok, but a big baggy. She could also wear 00 at some of the junior stores. Our best luck came from PacSun. She likes some clothes at Aero, but has never liked the feel of their jeans. This year, she has continued to grow (almost 5'7" and just over 100 pounds for reference), and she has graduated into 0s and 1s. Although I noticed that the regulars are getting a bit short, so it's a good thing she wears a lot of boots, lol. Now, she pretty consistently finds Hollister to be a comfortable fit, but they are not inexpensive.

Do you have a Plato's Closet nearby? They consign brand name clothes for teens and young adults.

Definitely second the recommendation for 00 at PacSun. DD11 is 5'4" and still around 80 lbs and those fit well. Also found the skinny style Grange (?) at Macys in a zero to fit well too. I got her a pair on sale w/coupon around $15 last week there. It is a line they carry a lot of styles of, so I would guess they would have them in most Macys.

The only skinny jeans that really fit my daughter are Hollister jeggings. SHe is 14, 5 feet 2inches and really skinny, I think she is wearing the size 0. You can get them on sale or I used an online code and got them for $23. I'd rather have just a few pair that fit her than a bunch of cheaper ones that don't. She has a few pair of aero that she bought before she got the hollister ones and they are bigger.
I would look at Hollister jeggings before I would bother with getting them altered.

My dd12 is in Aeropostale size 00 skinny jeans. I bought them for under $20 on sale.

GAP 16 slim!

She is 5'4" and 99 pounds. We were doing 14 slim and I picked up a few 0/1 type jeans at garage sales. They were either big in the waist or hips, too low rise, or too tight in the thighs, or just not an 11-12 year old kind of fit. I had also picked up two Gap 16 slim on sale. They fit her great. Now she wears Gap 16 slim almost exclusively. JCPenney (Arizona) also carries 16 slim in store. You will probably not find 16 slim in the Gap store, I had to go online. Target carries 16 slim Circo but they looked large in the waist to me. I think Walmart does too in the Faded Glory brand. If you can't find Gap on sale, try those places and hopefully you can find some in the piles.

Once I knew that Gap 16 slim fit her, I bought some on eBay too, just made sure they had the newer label on it so they should be the same measurements as the ones I bought new.

My dd gets them at old navy (womens dept.). She is 12 and they fit great. they have such and assortment and come in shorter or longer lengths which makes it easy to fit....she has some curve i nteh back, so she wears a size 2 short. Other stores, to get the rear to fit, they were too long. Old Navy's fit perfect.
