It's my DD1's birthday in a little while and she is having a 'Damsels & Dragons' themed party :goodvibes. She has asked for a Rapunzel dress/tiara etc and the party bits are all Tangled themed. She has also asked for a Tangled tower cake (which I am going to attempt to make!!) :scared1:.

Anyway, her party will be the day before her birthday so although I will present her with the tower cake and let her blow out candles, I'd like to keep it for a little family tea party the next day (on her actual birthday).

So, I need to buy a shop bought Tangled cake to cut up and put in the party bags - anyone seen one anywhere :confused3. I know Sainsburys don't do them - anyone seen one in Asda/Tesco or the like please? As there are a few boys going to the party don't want to do Disney Princesses as such but happy to do Tangled (might end up just cutting up a shop bought choccie one?!).

Sorry it's slightly OT - still Disney though :).

Just seen the typo in my title - lol Carke!!

Carrie, thank you as always :-). I had wanted to literally just buy one as I am going to be so busy with making her proper cake. I have used those transfers before (a long time ago) and they are OK to use but just 'one more thing to do' when I'm going to be maxed doing the other bits.

If I can't get one it's not the end of the world - no-one will really see it as it will be cut and in party bags - choccie one probably looking the best option!

PS - Can't wait for her party - it's all a total surprise (theme that is), she is going to be sooo excited :-) We are on Disney overload over the next few months as DD2 is having Mickey Mouse Clubhouse birthday party (and I'm making a clubhouse cake for her!)....

I haven't seen any here either, I've seen several designs at Auchan the same ones that they sell for nearly the double at Café Mickey :sad2:, but not that one yet.

I love doing suprise parties for little ones, they are so much fun and I think that the grown ups are almost if not more sometimes more excited than the birthday child :lmao:

Hi sounds a great idea, you will have to post pics!

A while ago we got a Tangled cake from Morrisons, they did a medium sponge and then small cup cakes with the pictures on, don't go in there very often so not sure if they will still be doing them.

Failing that I would just cut up a plain sponge, kids will never know - when mine come back from parties it's hard to tell what the cake had been as it's normally squashed at the bottom of the bag anyway :rotfl2: (they still eat it though :rotfl2:).

I have bought the edible transfers from ebay before, they came out really well and didn't take long to do. I had a large one for the birthday cake and smaller ones for cupcakes - the children took the cupcakes home as I also didn't want to cut the cake until my daughters birthday the next day.

Have fun :yay:

MummyMinnie - you are right! I remember getting those cakes last summer as part of the Disney cards promotion thing! They were quite small but I guess 2 or 3 would do the job.

I bet they don't sell them anymore now :confused3 - they were probably part of the promo but we have a store near (ish) to us so I'll go and check - thanks!

Failing that it will be a normal choccie birthday cake - I'm sure they won't mind, as you say, it ends up stuck to the napkins or party bags anyway!

Quite proud of myself though as I've made all the invitations, party bag toppers and thank you notes for them both this time - amazing what you can find on google image wise ;).

PS - If the cakes turn out OK I'll post here for you to see - the tower cake is causing me some sleepless nights :lmao:

Asda do a photo cake which is great.

You take the plain white cake from the shelf and then take it to the bakery counter with a photo. They copy it onto icing and put it on the cake - very quick, usually whilst you wait.

I'm thinking you could just take in a pic of your dd dressed up as Rapunzel or a Disney picture of Tangled.

Thanks for all your help :-)

I've contacted Morrisons and they no longer stock the Tangled cake.

Ms Poppins - local Asda won't copy copyright pics! And as she won't get her dress until her birthday party (it's part of her present), I won't be able to do the photo.

Thanks anyway - I'll probably just go for chocolate - can't go wrong lol!

Well, it's nearing the big day. After a good few stressful hours I've finished the Tangled tower cake. It has a fair bit of artistic licence and is akin to the leaning tower of Pisa ;), but DD1 is happy with it :thumbsup2. It is sooo heavy though, I'm worried about transporting it to her party! :scared1:

Anyway, someone asked for a photo so here it is...

oh my that is so amazing, you're very talented, she will LOVE it, well done - and much better than any shop bought one.

WOW!!! That's brilliant! :lovestruc I am so impressed, what a lucky girl your DD1 is. Have a great party and good luck with the transportation! :goodvibes

You realise all the other mum's will be after your skills now?!:rotfl:

thats a work of art, not a cake! Honestly, thats the best Tangled cake I've ever seen :worship::worship:!

Gosh that's fantastic! The hard work has really paid off. Your DD will be the envy of all her friends.

Aw thank you so much for the lovely comments :lovestruc It was quite stressful getting it together and took all day (just the decoration as I'd cooked the cake before, it is a large cake so took a long time to cook!). I just wish it wasn't so wonky :rotfl2:. Still, she is over the moon with it and can't wait until her party. We have bought her a Rapunzel dress and tiara to wear (as part of her presents) so she will look the part :cutie:.

I just know she would love to meet Rapunzel (and Flynn would be a bonus!) when we go to DLRP in June, so fingers crossed :goodvibes.

ETA - cherrymarzipan - I have been asked a few times about making cakes but to be honest I only make them twice a year - one for each DD as they are so time consuming and quite stressful trying to get them right - this is the most difficult I have made. In just over 2 weeks I have to make a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse cake for DD2!!

What a great cake:goodvibes I had visions of DD2 wanting a tangled cake but she has decided on hello kitty which should be a lot easier. I certainly know what you mean about it being stressful - for my oldest DD I ended up making tatty teddy this year and it gave me more than a few headaches.
