In our September trip we're thinking of going to Paris at some point for a day, or maybe an afternoon/evening ( so we dont lose to much Disney time ! )

I'd fancy doing a river cruise as i've heard you can see all the sights including Notre Dame, has anyone any suggestions or done one before that they would recommend?

Im also thinking of doing the touristy Eiffel Tower climb, is it worth it?

We're going to be getting the train from the resort which i've heard is easy to do and buy a travel card so hopefully that won't be too much of a problem, hoe much does one cost?

Any other Paris ideas would be great, we've never been and don't know where to start really but the above thoughts are in our minds at the moment and your thoughts on these would be nice :cool2:

Boat trips are indeed a good way of seeing the outside at least of many of the sights, and you also get a very good view of the Tower. We usually go with Vedettes de Pont Neuf - about 12 euros I think but a good tour. Sit on open top of boat for best views, even if raining!

Steer clear of 'dinner cruises' or 'lunch cruises' - very poor value, terrible food, and limited views.

If its a clear day then it is worth going up the ET, if its even slightly foggy or misty or with low cloud, then think carefully about whether you think the trip itself is worth it - the view won't be up to much. It is interesting in its own right though so you may want to anyway.

I don't know about the price of a travel card - we just buy a carnet (10 tickets) and share them out between us, which is probably not the best value way to do it; works for us though as we only use about 4 tix out of 10, so we have some left over for next time.

The river tour looks great thanks, I found this website which has everything I need, plus a discount voucher to use for the cruise!

I found the website here http://www.vedettesdupontneuf.com/

Very useful information about the cruise they offer and the site you can see, thanks for your advice. Looks great

I don't think we'll be using the metro so we probably won't go for a travel card or cardnet as we can't use them from Disney, we'll just get tickets to Chatelet led Halles and walk to the cruise and then walk along the river to anywhere else we fancy going.

can't find out what these tickets would cost though so i'll keep looking

The best ticket to get from DLP to Paris is a mobilis ticket - this gives you return to and from Paris and unlimited use of metro whilst in Paris - this works out cheapest.
I wrote quite a detailed report of 2 separate day trips to Paris in my Easter trippie.
Instead of a river trip we usually go for the batobus - a river bus which allows you to get on and off as many times as you like through the day. There is a stop by the ET, NotreDame, Louvre etc

Thanks small world, your trip report was great, wonderful pics!

Well the 12.40 euro mobilis ticket looks like the one to get then just so we can get around so much easier if we need to. The taxi bus certanly sounds a good idea too.

I like the idea of just being able to hop on and off like you can in London, as im sure my gf would like to walk around some of the sites, instead of just sailing past them quite literally!

thank you for your help

bump

Im going to get a mobilis ticket from the station for the trains and get the batobus

if you look this up on the web they have a lot of info on the batobus including stops and prices

hope this helps all
