Slightly OT - I saw one of the most disgusting things ever in a Grocery Store

Oldest DS' birthday is today and because he had a half day I took him to the store to get cake supplies. He was like, look now they make birthday candles that are half burnt so they're easier to light. I was like well that's different, let me see those and then I notice the package had been carefully opened and taped closed. You can't really see it in the photo but some of them still had frosting on the bottom.

The price on the sign above the package was $1.37. It had to cost that much in gas to bring them back to the store. Truthfully though, I can't believe the store took them back.

They not only took them back, but they are trying to resell them....YUCK!!

What boggles my mind is that someone was actually cheap enough or broke enough to use them then return them. And seriously what kind fuss do you think they had to pitch to get the store to take them back.

I'm thinking that the employee who accepted them as a return didn't look closely. But, WHO would ever even think to do something like that??

Did anyone notice that Betty Crocker cake mixes are now 15 oz instead of 18 oz?I went to restock my baking pantry and noticed the size difference in the boxes. I guess it will make 1or 2 less cupcakes per batch.

About 15 years ago I worked in a department store and was the manager on duty one night. A woman working the Estee Lauder counter called me to come over so she could show me something... she was processing a damage for a return she took earlier that night. It was a $75 bottle of Lauder Night Repair and the 'customer' emptied the bottle and filled it with dish soap! It is amazing what people will do!

Comment on underwear: I work retail and have found men's underwear put back into plastic package that was used. How did we know???? Well it was Mens Hanes boxers and we ONLY sell Fruit of Loom & Store brand. NOW that is gross.

Just last week I found a disgusting pair of flipflops with wicker/rattan wedge(no name for brand)....they were tossed under a shelf and left with a $39 tag. The tag scanned for a pair of suede boots. I guess with the cold weather the flipflops were not working out so great.

I guess its now become "Buyer beware"

I saw something even more disgusting...someone had peed in a vase and left it on the shelf. (maybe a mom let her child?) I was there when one of the clerks from the store discovered it.

After I got home I had that thought as well. Either way it's still a case of "How cheap can you be??" Cause seriously they were less expensive than a bottle of water.

I've seen the shoe thing a few times. It's weird that people will do that. Usually when I've seen it it's been at lower end dept. stores (Walmart, Target, etc.) with no one monitoring the shoe dept. That to me though is more of a form of shoplifting than anything else.

At our local store years ago, I came down the aisle where all the packaged bacon and bologna was. This teenage employee was having a conversation with another employee. She was sitting with her butt on the bacon packages, like it was a couch. I complained to a manager.
