Slightly concerned....

When we went to Disnet in 2013 we had an american friend join us at our resort hotel for a week who wasn't on the original booking. We phoned (which was a huge long drawn out palava) and cleared it with Disney and they said that was fine we could add her when she got there. It worked out that when she checked out she didn't have to pay anything extra on top of what we had paid.

I just want to see if anyone knows if this has changed. I really fon't fancy the hassle of the phone call again.

I am not sure of your question. But you can add an additional adult at check in if it does not exceed the total room occupancy. If you are then more than 2 adults there is an extra charge per night. I believe it is $10/night value $15/nightr Moderate and $25/night Deluxe,

What I meant was the last time we stayed there we had booked and paid for 2 of us to share a mermaid room. We then had a friend join us at a later date for a week who wasn't on the original booking. Disney did not charge her any extra cost.

The policy is that there is a surcharge. Occasionally, they may not charge you. Disney pixie dust. But I would plan on paying it when budgeting.

Normally their is no charge if you are staying in a suite or a DVC villa for an extra adult. If they do charge it would be $10 a night. Nowadays (it has changed in the last year or so) you will have problems adding anyone when you arrive if you have a dining plan on your room but if it is room only there should not be an issue.

If you have made ADR's you will need to call and see if they can add 1 to yoru reservations - they have to follow a fire code at all times

We have already added her to all our ADRs. We just want to be all above board and not not pay our way.

You can add them for the specific nights at the front desk after arrival. Downside is FP+ will not be attached to room. They can get a ticket and with their own MDE book FP+ at 30 days to try to match yours.

If you have an AOA suite, no charge.

If you have a standard LM room, there is $10 per night additional adult charge beyond 2 adults.

What you experienced before was pixie dust.

Oh wow we got pixie dust! First time and I didn't realise it.

We have a suite so should be no charge, yay! We are paying for this friends entires holiuday apart from spending money so this helps save a fair bit.....I never knew how expensive it was to fly internally in the USA!!!

We booked throough Virgin so a package.

if you have a package and someone is joining, they have to have the same thing i am pretty sure - so they would have to have the dining plan too

I'm a little concerned by your comment and want to make sure you don't get an unpleasant surprise. If you are on the Disney Dining Plan and you are not booked with a free dining plan reservation, I am almost positive everyone registered to your room must be on the dining plan which means you will have to pay for the dining plan for your extra guest.

Last time we didn't need to add a dining plan. When we book through virgin we have to pay extra for the dining plan so don't see why we need to get ehr one too if we don't want one. Especially as she hardly eats anything due to a medical condition. :confused

BEcuase its a Disney rule - if you have a package with Dining (everyoen pays for it uniless its a promotion) then EVERYONE in the room has to have it - even if she doesn't eat alot it doesn't matter. I would contact Disney or your travel agent, or Virgin, or whoever and double check - would hate for you to have to pay up big bucks later on

I think I might have confused the matter with how I've explained it. We did not get the hotel and dining as a package. We purchased it at the same time but it was two seperate prices. The dining was not in a package with the hotel.
The way Virgin do it are allow you to add these things on and to pay for the whole thing together.
The flights, hotel, tickets and diding are all seperate costs and any one of them can be cancelled independently. (not that we plan to)

We also plan to check her in when she gets there. I think last time she might have had some sort of medical card to explain her lack of need for the dining package.
