Sleigh Ride Question

I was just wondering if you're actually looking at anything during the sleigh ride (like decorations, resort) or do you just go through woods? Either way it sounds like a lot of fun. I just reserved a sleigh ride for Dec 6th. CM told me there was only 2 time slots left for that day so if you want to book, do it soon.

I just changed my time on December 18th from 7:30pm to 5:30pm. I figured it is going to be pretty dark at 7:30pm and I am sure that DD would love to be able to look for little forest critters along the ride.

For those of you wanting the 18th, the CM told me that the 7:30pm spot I was giving up was the last opening for that night.

I also booked PS at Whispering Canyon at 6:40pm. After dinner we planned to run over to MK for the SpectroMagic parade. (This does two things for us: 1. We get to see the parade which we love, 2. We can then get a bus to our hotel (BC).)

But I do have a questions, what is the quickest way to get from the Beach Club to the WL? Should we walk/ride over to Epcot and catch one of the busses to WL or should be take the MK bus from the BC and then get on the boat or bus to WL?

Just be sure to book ahead of time. We were at the WL last December and checked with them each day and there was not an opening at all.:( . Building a new house this year so NO CHRISTMAS TRIP. .

Enjoy the ride.

Thanks for the heads up! I hadn't completed our itinerary yet, so I was afraid to book a certain date. But, I took a wild guess and we are going to try it on the 8th! My 3yo dd will absolutely be in heaven!!:cloud9:

I am going to try to see if I can get this picture of the sleigh ride to post!

I just called and booked ours for the night of the 17th at 630. I thought this was a 60 days out booking, but the lady said 90. Yeah! Then we went ahead and booked dinner at the Wispering Canyon for 720! Sounds like it will be a perfect night!

Michelle, We are doing almost exactly the same thing but the next night (the night before the cruise). Sleigh Ride - 5:30pm and Dinner at Whispering Canyon at 6:40pm.

Jackie, Thank you for the pictures. My DD will flip out when she sees the horse. As with most girls, she is a horse FREAK.

If I'm not mistaken, it will be dark by 5:30.

So, my DD does not like the dark (if there is nothing else to look at). What can you see on the ride? Is ANYTHING lit up?

Thank you for posting the pictures. :)

We didn't do the sleigh ride, but the carriage ride through Fort Wilderness. It's wonderful! The ride is through the Fort Wilderness campgroud where the RV owners decorate their RVs and their sites. It's also $30 per carriage and can hold 4 people.

Here are pictures:

Does the Sleigh Ride take roughly the same route as the Carriage Ride? Does anyone know if the trails are lit up??

Thanks to those who have posted pictures. I'm still wondering about the scenery though. Someone said you go through the campground. Do you go through the grounds of the Wilderness Lodge, the woods, is it lit up at all? This whole trip is a surprise for our three dd's. I am so exicted I got to book the sleigh ride. They will love it!!

I think you go through the back trails on the Wilderness Lodge sleigh ride and the campgrounds on the Fort Wilderness carriage ride. The WL is probably too far from the campgrounds for a 30 minute round-trip ride.

If you're thinking about going around Christmas, I would really recommend the carriage ride. The campground guests' Christmas decorations are really a hoot! Animated Santas, lots of lights, inflated snowmen, etc. Plus, our driver Phyllis knew where all the "good" decorations were and brought us by them :).

We rode the one from WL. Ours was at 8:30 or 9:00 (I forget), but it was very dark. Nothing was lit up. It is dark, but there was a full moon or something and we could see into the woods around us. We went on an old jogging trail (or maybe it was still in use, but not at night). We headed toward the Ft Wilderness area, but didn't quite get there before we turned back. You really couldn't see anything but the woods. I can't remember if the driver had a latern or not.....(sorry, this 41 year old brain ain't what she used to be).

My daughter is also a horse freak and this was a surprise for her (my son's surprise was stopping at the Ted Williams baseball museum). My daughter absolutely loved it! The driver talked with her all along the way about horses (and hints on how to talk her dad into getting her one!)

I haven't done the one at Ft Wilderness, but it sounds like there is more to see there - the RV Christmas decorations. The one at WL was great - and we almost felt like royalty coming back to WL on that carriage - but don't do it expecting great scenery.
