We have my DH's cousin's DD over for a sleepover tonight...it is 11:28pm she has been in tears for 20 minutes. We just got her parents on the phone but they are 2.5 hours away :( It is going to be a very very long night. Poor kid...right now she is talking to her momon the phone, but it is not going well...Why do I think we will be taking a long ride soon?

Wish us luck :(
**Update**

We got her asleep and moved her to my oldest DD's bedroom. She lasted about 30 minutes and fell out of bed. I ran in picked her up and cuddled her on my lap til she fell asleep. She fell asleep there, and I was terrified to move, so sat ther til this morning at 6 am when she stirred. I have a sore neck, sore back and I finally got feeling in my arms back...I felt so bad for her though :(

Now she has eaten a donut, a bowl of cereal and is as happy as a lark playing, but I need some sleep and the day is just starting...Oh well

My DD's had a great time and that is what counts...Tomorrow my little miracles turn 7 officilly :)

oh no! how old is she? can she be distractted by the tv or a movie or food or something?

Sorry, Glo!

The only time we've had that happen, it was the girl who lives across the park from us, so it was not a big deal (even though it was 2:00 A.M., LOL!)

I feel for you. my older dd went through a period of time when I had to get her from sleepovers in the middle of the night.

She is six...my DH is now talking to her parents, but it is breaking my heart. I have her here on my lap, and she has those hard sobs, and big tears :( I do not think the mom wants to give in though...I dunno :(

2.5 hours away....I don't really blame her!

But I'm sorry you have to deal with a sobbing child, Glo! Maybe a video on TV will distract her???

Have any popsicles? When DD had her first sleep over one of the girls (who was 6 at the time) did this. After trying movies, popcorn, games I finally offered them popsicles. She calmed down enough to sit and eat with the other girls and laid down and went to sleep right afterwards.

I just sent DH to get a video and I set the VCR...

Thanks guys...but I think I need some calming PD vibes sent this way....

She sounds like my 6 yo ds.:) He spent a couple of nights with my mom this week and 1 night she said he cried his heart out for me.:( She'll be fine.:) Why don't you play dress up with her to get her mind off of her separation anxiety?:) Tell her some WDW stories.:)

Here's calming PD that she calms down and falls asleep soon. The video is a good idea. Maybe if you sit and hold her while she's watching it, she'll fall asleep.

We put on the video and she snuggled up. She is asleep at the bottom of our bed and we are scared to move her. We are going to wait till she is in a nice deep sleep. Poor baby :( I hope she stays asleep the rest of the night.

you know whats the worst thing? its how she's going to feel tomorrow morning. i always felt like such a brat when i cried at sleepovers in front of my friends/family. i really hope she doesn't feel like that.

I just hated seeing her cry...sound asleep right now. Hopefully when she wakes up, she will just play with the twins and forget all about it. I am crossing my fingers anyway... :(

Poor baby! (You and her!)

Is this her first time sleeping away from home? I can still remember going to my first sleepover when I was in Kindergarten, and my Mom having to drive over to pick me up in the middle of the night because I was in tears...

(I'm a bit older than you, so you can do the math to see how long ago that was.:o It must have been pretty traumatic to still be imprinted in my mind this much later. Especially when you consider that I can't tell you what I had for breakfast today!)

How's it going Glo? I hope alright. If you do have to make the drive tonight maybe her folks can meet you half way so neither of you have to drive the whole distance. But sending lots and lots of pixie dust that that won't happen!

well it's Sunday morning I hope she is ok. I remeber when I slept at my aunts house when I was around that age and cried cause I wanted to go home. but I made it, got puffy eyes and never did it again. :D

Just stopping in to see how it went for the rest of the night Glo. Hope she slept all the way through and is OK this morning.

She is bright and cheery like nothing happened...lol. I would rather it that way :) But I feel like I went through a war....

I just saw this now... poor Glo, ouch on the sore neck, but at least you let her sleep....and the little sweetie, she must have been scared, I just see Angela looking at her like what is up with this?? LOL What is she afraid of??

My Katie used to do that, she could not sleep at anyone's house... she thought something would happen to us and she would not be here.... One time she was at my Mom's and started crying to come home...Carrie tried to reason with her, No Go... I talked on the phone to her.. she was not having it.. my poor Mom had to get in her car at midnight and drive home with sweet little Kate... it is now one of our favorite family stories... she never stayed over Nana's again, Nana always stayed at our house..

Poor Glo -- that sounds like a rough night. I still haven't had a sleepover at my house yet. My bigger dd has stayed at a couple of friend's houses (but we started with her staying at the grandparent's first.) She was fine.

The little one (4 1/2) had her first sleepover at someone other than MIL's house when I was away. It was spur of the moment -- a playdate after school that progressed to a sleepover. She was fine - not a peep out of her.

I know we got lucky that way.

I hope you can get some rest today and that your neck feels better.
