We are staying at a one bedroom beach club villa. Me and wife and two boys 2 and 5. 5 year old sleeps in own bed at home. 2 year old has his own bed as well but it is a converted large crib with rails so he doesnt roll out. Is the roll away crib you can get from the resort full size? If not how comfortable is hte pull out sofa and is it high off the ground and big enough for both boys?

I have no idea about the cribs. We have used the pullouts since our boys were little. My boys (now 7 & 9) always sleep on the pullouts together. There is plenty of room. The beds are only about 1 ft off the groud. If you are worried about the little one rolling off, use the cushions from the couch on the floor next to the bed.

The sofa sleepers in one bedroom units are queen sized. I estimate they are 18" to 20" in height. You should be able to get rails from housekeeping for the sofa-sleeper, maybe just put them on the side that th elittle one will be sleeping on.

I don't know anything about the cribs, as we haven't traveled with children that young..

We're also staying in a 1 BR villa (BWV and BCV). We have 2 DDs, 5 and 2.5. Last year, our youngest was 1.5 when we went and she slept in the pack-n-play provided. This year, no way. She now sleeps in a toddler bed at home. The pull-out sofas are plenty big for my two girls, so they will sleeping together. Like you, I am a little concerned about the youngest falling out of bed. It is my understanding that the resorts have bed rails you can request, so that is what we will be doing for the sofa bed!

May be more trouble than it's worth for a bed rail, but you can rent from A Baby's Best Friend. We rented a toddler bed last year for for DD3 and we were very happy with the service, we plan to use them again this year.

I was also worried about my children falling off the sleeper sofa. My youngest had always slept in a portable crib that we brought from home until she was 2.5. Then she slept with her 7 year old brother at the sleeper sofa. I put them sideways where my 3 year old would be lying at the head of the bed while my 7 year old slept at the foot of the bed (also sideways, he was still able to fit that way). I put pillows on either side of my 3 year old. I did make sure that I wedged some cushions at the top where the metal bars are exposed (since there could be a potential for them to get stuck). I also had my 3 year old in a sleeping bag to keep from easily rolling over.

By the way, when my son was about 2.5, we had used the wooden cribs (that you can request) at the resort thinking that it was large enough. It was smaller than the portable cribs, so we brought our own on our next vacation. Luckily, my son didn't mind it.

Been there, done that....

Good news for you...The hotel will deliver bed rails to you. All you need to do is ask. :)

Last year was the first year we didn't need bed rails, but we have used them for the previous three trips. They worked great. We used them all different ways.

06 DVC Trip: Used a bed rail to keep my DD from falling out of the "daybed" at a BWV Studio. My other DD slept in the Pack & Play.

07 DVC Trip: we used it with an air mattress on the floor to keep the kids from rolling off. We were in a 2BR w/ extended family.

08 DVC Trip. We used it for the Pull-out sofa.

09 DVC Trip: We didn't need it.

So as you can see, there are many ways you can use them.

Good luck!
