We were going to sleep in it last night for the kids a cheap new treat. But it was going to be under 40 degrees -least no mosquitos:lmao:-but I chickened out after I watched DH mow in his winter coat (and he likes it COLD!). So the tent is up today. Pretty windy though. DH gets the air mattress and DS on his side. I get ALL the comforters I can find and DD on my side. I think it is to be 60 something tonite.

Have fun! DD and I were going to sleep in our backyard before her first campout (which was Aug 28th) but we never got to it.

Our (my) first campout was pretty good. But boy was that ground hard! I kept tossing and turning all night. And I had one of those foam thingies under me! I should have brought my twin air bed but there wouldn't have been room in the tent for it with the 4 girls in my tent. But I would do it again, as long as I could have me air mattress!

Oh, and something I didn't know would happen-when we got in the tent to go to bed the inside of the tent was all wet from condensation (and cold). Maybe that's why most of the campers had tarps under their tents? We were sleeping on a very nice grass meadow so all the moisture came up from the ground.

I think it was in the low-mid 60's at night during our camporee. It was warm enough in the tent with 5 people's body heat.

And one other thing I didn't do that I should have was make sure the rain cover was attached all the way around. I had missed one of the attachments and early in the a.m. (before dawn) the wind picked up and the rain cover kept making noise. A few binder clips may have help too!

Enjoy!

Oh what memories, we used to do this with our boys eons ago. It was so much fun and they though it was such an adventure. Have a great time, you will be making memories. :thumbsup2

Good luck!

My tip- if you're on an air mattress, put a good blanket layer under you as well as on top. The AIR in it is going to match the air temp outside, will suck the heat right out of you.

Great memories with the kids!

Have fun! My husband and 5 year old did that last night for the first time. It got down to 57 over night. Sadly, we only have a 2-person tent so I had to sleep inside. They had a blast, though. We need to buy a tent that sleeps more.

We did not survive the night in the tent. DD was scared-I got her to sleep, but DS was still awake. He said this creeps me out, I'm out of here. I talked him back into laying down next to me then a huge single crack of lightening lite up the whole area, after that it was over, all of us back into the house. Around 2AM the wind really blowing woke me up, I had to laugh to myself that really would of freaked DS out. Today DD told grandma we spent the nite in the tent, DS piped up until I chickened out.

I would have been outta there too! Much better to watch a storm from inside the house. We don't get too many lightening storms here. We look forward to seeing some lightening in Florida.
