My son and I are going back to WDW for the second time. Since this is his birthday he is taking his best friend since kindergarten. We will be staying at WDW at POP for 9 days. The plan was for both the boys to share the Murphy bed and I would take the other. Now I’m wondering if I should change to a family suite at Music? My son picked POP again because he likes it I wanted to go to AOA but a family suite at AOA is out of my budget as a single parent?

Advice do you think we will survive and have a good time if they share the bed? Should I upgrade to family suite at Music?

The Murphy bed at Pop is essentially a pull down queen. If the boys are ok with sharing, I would keep to your original plan, both because it's likely less expensive and your son requested Pop for his birthday trip. If they're not cool with sharing then move to Music.

He says he is ok with sharing. They share tents when camping with scouts which is not a bed but it’s smaller than the queen bed.

If it’s out of your budget, it’s out of your budget.
Not out of the budget exactly. AoA family suite would be stretching it thinner than I would like but music would be doable. Just not sure if it is needed. First time traveling with more than one kid.

How old are the boys? Two 10yr olds on the murphy bed will be a different fit versus two 16yr olds. But even if they are older, if they've been friends that long I doubt they'll care about sharing tight quarters. Worst case, could you bring an inflatable mattress (or pick one up in Orlando) and have them switch off?

My guess is you are worrying about this 1000% more than the boys are :)

They are 14 & 15. Idk where in pop you could even put a air mattress or I would ask for a cot. The rooms are on the smaller side.

I am very much an over thinker. So I am probably over thinking it. Lol.

We are a family of 6. The kids share beds and have no choice. Alternative is a blanket on the floor. Since one is unrelated, just check with son and friend/friends family. If they are fine with it, go for it. You could alternatively share with your son.

Boys are too old and big/ tall to share a bed for than many days.
Maybe shorten length of trip to lower cost

I think they will be fine- when kids go to DC at school they share queen beds for a week.

I think sharing is easier if each person has their own blanket. Call and get one from housekeeping or bring one from home.

My son was in Scouts ( he just got his Eagle--yay!). Sometimes they went to summer camps that they flew to---for example Catalina Island. On those trips, they often would fly in and stay and a hotel for one night before going to camp the next day. It was always 4 teenage scouts sharing a room---2 per bed. My son said that they would sleep on top of the bed in sleeping bags which made it less awkward. Maybe they could do something like that?

Not sure of the price of the family suite at Music vs Pop, but that gives more space and at 14 and 15, that would be nice. I do think if both boys know they are sharing a queen, though, I think it’s fine to stay at Pop. They are probably going to grow more tired of YOU vs each other. 😂.

They can handle sharing . After a day at the parks everyone is out cold until the alarm goes off . Even my daughters friend was fine and she’s a bed hog.I swear the kids didn’t move they were so tired! 🤣
