Sleeping arrangements with 2.5 year old twins

Hi, there. I've finally set the budget for our trip this fall with the twins. Now, I'm just wondering about sleeping arrangements and what you all have done.

We are going to stay onsite in a room with two double beds (probably Pop, since the kids will probably like how bright and colorful it is). DH and I will be in one bed. I was thinking we'd push one bed up against the wall and ask for 2 sets of bed rails (for the side and end of the bed) and let the boys sleep together on the same bed.

What do you think of this idea? They will still have been sleeping in separate cribs at home. Would they kick the **** out of each other and roll off the bed, even with rails? Should I just get a room with a king sized bed and get inflatable sleeping bags for them?

What have you done when staying onsite with two little ones?

We usually each sleep with a kid. We tried putting two kids in a bed, but they would wake up all night long complaining about being kicked, squished, rolled on, etc. My kids sleep better if they aren't together. Although, I don't sleep very well because I worry that my DH will roll over on my DS, lol! So, everyone sleeps well except for Mom, but with 3 kids I'm kind of used to not sleeping anyway!

I think they'd keep each other up in the same bed. How old are they (will they be)? If they're 2 or older, I'd go with the inflatable sleeping bags. We use those while traveling a lot. If they're younger and you don't think they'd stay in a sleeping bag, I'd have each of you take a kid for the night. Either way you'll probably get as much sleep as you do at home!

I can’t imagine putting my dc together in one bed (4.5 and 2). There would be no sleeping going on. We will be going to WDW in December. My older dd (22) and her friend will be sharing one room and my dh, myself and my two little ones will be in another. Since we are used to a king sized bed at home and will feel a bit cramped in a double, I plan to sleep with one child and dh with the other. The question will be who gets our son who doesn’t move all night long and who gets the 2 y/o that lays sideways and kicks all night. I’m not concerned about her falling out of the bed since she sleeps in a twin bed now with no rails (has since 17 months) and has only fallen out once.

I am wondering about the same thing. We are leaving next Thursday Feb. 2 and I still haven't decided how to work it out with my two children. My sons are 6 and 2 1/2. They both sleep in separate rooms and the youngest is still in a crib. He still sleeps in a portacrib at the sitters, so I've thought about just getting a room with a king room with a sofa bed and putting my older son on the sofabed. Then using the portacrib for the youngest. But I'm not sure how cramped that will be. The other option is two doubles, one for hubby and me, one for the six year old and put the 2 1/2 year old on the sofabed with rails. I need to hurry up and make up my mind!

I have 2.5 y/o twin girls. I know we could not put them in the same bed. Both of my girls roll/kick/bounce in bed. We are planning a trip to WDW in July for their third birthday. We are planning to take 2 Dora Ready Beds for them to sleep on. Only $28 at Target online. Currently when we travel we take two pack-n-plays. I have tried to sharing a bed on trips with our older boys and now know better. I vote for a King with two inflatible sleeping bags.

We won't be going until the fall, so it'll be too late for your trip.

Have you gotten your girls accustomed to the ready beds? How did you do it? I've tried to get our boys to sleep on mats on the floor, but they think it's a game. They're not quite 2 yet. They'll be at least 2.5 when we go (haven't decided whether we should go closer to their birthday or sooner) so hopefully, they'll get it by then!

When we were at Pop in July, we had 2 connecting rooms - one with 2 double beds and one with king and requested a crib. I think there would be plenty of room for 2 cribs - they're only the pack-n-plays, so they really don't take up that much room. Good luck!

We just returned from a cruise with our twin 3.5 year old sons and had brought on Jr Aero Beds. They worked great. They have raised sides which makes it harder (but not impossible) to fall out. They are not high off the ground so that shouldn't matter to much

But seriously, you ask a great question. I was going to tell you that moving the beds will not work since they do not move but someone beat me to it!

I would think that a king bed with 2 pack-n-plays would be better but it all depends on where the kids are used to sleeping right now.

Exactly what we did with our 2.5 year old and 5 year old. We knew they wouldn't actually "sleep" in the same bed together. So we each slept with one. It worked put just fine. On half or maybe more of our nights, our little one fell asleep on the bus, and our older one was so bushed that getting him to go to sleep was much less effort than at home. Our biggest concern would be one waking up in the middle of the night and then waking the other to play. We had no problems.

Besides, with my wife and I sleeping in separate beds there was less temptation to do anything that might have sent our kids to a psychiatrist for the rest of their lives had they awoken when we wouldn't have wanted them to.

I only have one, but when we went to WDW in December our DS 2.5 slept on the floor. We put the extra blanket, folded so that it was thicker, and the extra pillow on the floor with his blanket and he slept on that. The next day, mousekeeping noticed that DS was sleeping on the floor so the made him a bed with his very own comforter. He slept fine on the floor..probably better than he would have been in the bed. He was so exhausted at the end of the night, we could keep the TV own, talk, and move around and he never woke up! When he'd wake up before us, we'd hear him down there just chatting away to his buzz stuffed animal. lol!

I went to Target yesterday and got one of those ready beds on sale for $8.50! It's the Winnie the Pooh one and it was the only one like that left so they had it on clearance from $35.00 marked down to $8.50. Just thought I'd share! Thanks to those who mentioned the Ready Beds!
