my sig says "VMK events, a fun way to waste an entire day!"

which, could be a problem lol. but they STILL have not told me so.

As for the surf spot last night. What a few of us said probably shouldnt have been, i guess. But i really dont think that would be it with people running around saying you beach all over the place, and one that made me laugh when i refused a trade, "you do what a floor clean machine does". Those people dont get banned. So for typing one verb, i dont think that would be it lol. Besides, the disconnect and ban was a good 1/2 hour - 45 minutes after that anyway.

Maybe someone reported you and they went back to look at the logs? or maybe they were looking at the logs anyway? Who knows, but I think the "grab" was probably the most likely reason for the ban. I don't think they punish people for civil disobedience (your signature), but for anything with a potential innuendo that they see, I think they slap the glove.

PurpleDuck, I have been very careful with my DD on VMK, too. She is only allowed to play if I am watching or in game with her. I run her account when she is not on and check out all of her friends. Any that don't pass muster are gone.

Maybe it is overkill but my DD is incredibly naive and innocent. I wish to keep her that way. She will be an adult for about 60+ years and a child for only 18...

Sorry you got banned Mousse but I wouldn't want my girl to hear talk about grabbing people's as. Sexual innuendos should be big no-nos, IMHO. Now, talk about drinks? Well, that is just a part of life, LOL.

My six-year-old son was called a "fog" and a "beach" by someone who was made that he didn't want to be "taken." I reported it, but nothing happened.

Dont do that. There is NOTHING wrong with your sig.

I will NOT change my sig because they do not like my opinion, and/or criticism. Now, they havent asked me to, so we have no problem. But there is nothing profane in it whatsoever. I am within the dictionary, and if they want to ban people for criticising them, then i guess they will keep banning me lol.

All that said, i really do think it was the other thing that got me the ban. Thinking back, it was just after surf had booted some kids coming in, asking evryone to trade, and making a general annoyance in the room. So if one of those little.......people (lol) reported the room, or one of us in it, then yeah, maybe they looked at the logs.

Thanks for the info, Mousse. I agree, I don't think it is your sig...civil disobedience is a good term for that. Even if the powers that be don't like it, I think it would be deemed harmless. I have no doubt that the Surf Spot is being carefully watched.

The problem with this whole thing is that this is a whole new ball game that we have here, and the rules are being written as we speak. Those of us who are parents know what it is like to watch our kid's online friends. Sure, we are looking for the kid who is just not nice and is a bad influence, but that is not the worst of it. The biggest fear is that the sweet kid with talk of their homework and curfew and test grades and such is really a sick forty-five year old pervert, just playing a very deadly game. We all know that that can happen, and we're on alert.

But I'm sure that it can and does happen in reverse. Who is to say that one of us is not a smart and articulate thirteen year old, posing as an adult? Perhaps I am not a middle-aged mom at all! lol The only ones that really know that for sure are the people who have met me in real life (my friends and family that have come to join me on the DIS, and LisainNC, who I had the pleasure of meeting at WDW). That and the fact that I joined the DIS a year and a half before the start of VMK. But, really, as long as there is that element of doubt there, I believe that VMK is right to error on the side of caution to protect our kids, some of which have no real life adult watching their back.

That being said, I think the lines are blurred as far as the truly innocent things that can get a red flag (like the VMK staff Halloween costume, or an obscure reference to an age group), and I hope over time that will improve. And while VMK staff cannot see all things at all times, I would hope that eventually those that speak with crafty innuendoes will eventually show themselves at the right time and be gone. Just like in every good Disney movie (and in real life), life as we know it will always involve a struggle with a villain!

To whoever asked what ppl did to get banned so they would know...my 2 hour ban was for asking a girl her DIS "title" so I could see if she was really DIS and come in my private club. I said "What is your DIS title" not "what is your real title" or anything like that, and got a ban for "asking for personal info".
