Day 3-August 23

Well, it was up to me to make the plans for the day, we usually do it on a day to day basis, but it is always on MY shoulders to plan the day's itinerary, and as you all know that can be big pressure.

I decided that we would go to Epcot for half the day and then finish out by taking a boat from Epcot over to Beach and Yacht Club for dinner at Beaches and Cream. Everyone agreed, but the adults were not very keen on Epcot. I am the only one who doesn't mind Epcot.

The last two days we have been getting afternoon showers, so I packed a tote bag filled with our rain ponchos, just in case.

We arrived at Epcot and headed straight for Spaceship Earth, which everyone, especially the kids, really like. From there we headed over to the Test Track, every year we go to Epcot and I never get to do Test Track, so I was determined to do so today, but once again the lines were extremely long and no one wanted to wait, so once again, I have to wait until next trip. (boo hoo!)

Mission Space was next. My Dh opted to sit out as motion simulators and spinning make him sick. I was all prepared for this ride after hearing all this stuff about people getting sit and that you better keep looking straight ahead and don't turn to try and talk to someone cuz you will be sorry etc... and I wanted to make sure that my nieces were ok going on this. My sister and one 8 year old niece and the four year old went together and me and my other 8 year old niece, Maria went together. I was disssapointed in the ride in one respect as it was not that thrilling to me, I expected more, but was glad that my nieces were able to ride with no problems. I did not get sick, despite purposely looking away and seeing if I would, but it had no effect on me at all. It wasn't a horrible attraction, I just expected alittle bit more of a thrill, and it fell short for me. My four year old niece was not scared at all, even when the part came where you couldn't move your head because of the spinning, which I never once felt.

We looked through a few pavilions and then headed to the Mexico and Norway to ride the River of Time and Maelstrom. The kids liked both rides and we walked around the countries abit when the sky started looking alittle threatening. As we appraoched the countries we got to see them raise the bridge so they could bring out the big globe that they use for Illuminations, so I took a few shots and here they are:

Of course, the kids loved this. It was rather cool.

I ended up losing my new sunglasses when we were getting off Maelstrom, as I exited the boat they fell out of my shirt pocket and right into the river, and there was no way to retrieve them, so I was out of luck. Of course my family had a good laugh over that.

The skies continued to get dark and it looked as if we could be getting our rainstorm soon, so we started to head toward the boat dock over near France that takes you to the Boardwalk area. It was such a long walk, especially with kids, DH and I are used to just zipping along, but now we were abit slowed down. We made it to the dock just as the Friendship boat was pulling in, and on our way my DH saw the wife of one of the referees he employs for basketball, what a small world! My DH asked where her husband was and she said he was at MGM with their son. Well, we thought seeing her was a rare thing, but when we got off the boat at BC/YC and started walking up the bridge to YC, we see her husband! How rare is that?

We made our way to Beaches and Cream and we were starved. The plan was to purchase a kids meal for the 3 girls and then use 3 Q&C's for the adults, and then split the desserts with the kids as they are so huge. The place was crowded as usual, but our wait was only 20 minutes and they have chairs and tables outside that you can sit on and wait, so I took some pictures of SAB while we waited and here they are:

The hamburgers at B&C are so delicious, I ordered a double with cheese and fries and a diet. DH had a roast beef sub with fries and for his dessert he chose the frozen sunshine. When dessert time came me and my sister got the fudge mudslide. It was HUGE--I always thought the sundaes at Ghirardelli were big, but these make those look like midgets! My sister shared her with two of my nieces and I shared mine with my DH, and my niece Maria. We STILL could not finish them! They were so chocolately and had chunks of brownie in them. The ice cream they use is very good quality as well. Our waitress was very accommodating and brought spoons so we could share.

We headed back to the boat dock after walking around the BC&YC and we were going to go to the BW but everyone was way too full, so we saved that for another night. We took the boat to MGM so we could hop on the bus to CBR. Here are a few more photos of our boat ride:

We had a nice day and the storm didn't come until later that night. We spent the rest of the night at CBR and got a snack at OPR.

My two older nieces (twins, 8) love hanging out with me because we do crazy things and I don't act like an adult to them, so we would go exploring every night when we got back to the resort. To them, getting the drink mugs and getting refills is a big thing, and it's fun without their mom, and of course Auntie Kris always buys them stuff, so that is cool too. Once again we walked to OPR, looked in the gift shop, drank pop in the dining area and they talked me into getting a big cupcake for each of us, I said "don't tell anyone we got these" and then they proceeded to wipe their mouths and say "no evidence!" of course we couldn't walk back to the room, we had to take the Internal Bus, that is part of the fun for them. The driver was taken by my nieces and told them it was ok to ride around a few times before we got off at Jamaica (gee thanks Mr. Busdriver...LOL)

I am testing...can everyone see the photos? When I first posted them I could see them, then the next day, there were red x's and no photos, now today I got photos again. Let me know if you can see them or if you are getting red x's too. I can see them now, but who knows for how long?
