I apologize if this has been asked before by another clueless American.
I've been re-reading the Harry Potter books in anticipation of book 7 this summer and while I've figured out things like "jumper" and "trainer" I've come across some slang words I need a definition for.
In Order of the Phoenix, Ron and Luna are talking and Ron says "Are you taking the mickey?" What does that mean?
Could somebody also explain "prat" and "git?" I have a vague idea of the meaning but I always wonder when I come across these words in the books.
When Tonks says "'Wotcher, Harry" is that short for something? Or is it just a greeting like "Hey, Harry."
Thanks for your help!
