What is the difference between a Montana room and a standard room? Is it just the location?

Would it be worth paying a bit extra for?

Montana room means you're in the main building that houses reception and the restuarants, whereas a standard room is in one of the seprarate cabins out the back of the hotel.

I've only ever stayed in Montana rooms and certainly think it's worth the extra. :)

If you planning on going in winter then I would say yes, as its a room in the main building and not one of the lodges, so you wouldnt need to go outside to get breakfast etc.

The rooms are the same the only difference is you get a mini bar (and you might get a nice view!). I've booked one for December - but not sure I would bother in the summer.

(I love your trip report on the UK board by the way:) )

For our halloween trip I did book a standard room but we were in main building so i wonder if we were upgraded :confused3
The room was nothing special anyway and the view horrible (back car park) but for me a hotel is just a place to rest after a day of fun :rotfl:

With little ones, I'd say yes, it's worth it. You don't know which lodge you're going to get. The first time we stayed there, we didn't book a Montana room and our room was actually in one of the end lodges. It was a drag to walk to brekkie in the morning and also to walk back to at the end of the day. Second time round, we were lucky. When I booked over the phone (didn't mention Montana rooms), the lady said that we have a room in the main building:yay:. It made such a big difference coz it meant that we cld just walk down to brekkie, leave our bags etc in the room and just quickly pop back up to get the bags before we headed off to the park!

we have stayed in the sequoia twice and are going again in dec. :cool1: past twice have booked standard rooms, but been upgraded to montana rooms (not sure why, maybe with it being quite quiet?) :confused3

first time view was fab, right over lake disney, second time was of gardens, but we only sleep in the room so that didn't bother me. BUT i did like the fact we were in the main building.

have booked a standard room this time, but if they don't upgrade us i will ask if there is any available rooms and we will pay the extra. :)

I stayed in a Montana room on my only trip to the SL and didn't even know it cost any extra! Would be worth it though as the walk looked quite long from one of the further away buildings

Thanks guys :)

I think I might just try my luck ;)

Definitely worth it, in my mind.

The rooms have hairdryers and mini-bars, which some find nice, but the BIG advantage is being in the main building, so you can just nip down to breakfast, without coats (and hats and scarves in colder weather!) and don't have your coat on the back of your chair during brekkie. In the evening you can relax in ther Redwood Bar in the knowledge that you only have to tiptoe upstairs to go to bed, instead of struggling back outside to the Lodge.

The Montana rooms are definately preferable if you have kiddies. Also Montana rooms have mini bars which are little chillers so you can keep milk or beer / wine chilled without having to use the mini bar contents.

If being in the main building, having an hairdryer and a mini bar mean you are in a Montana Room then we were upgraded and we didnt even know :confused3
But our mini bar was locked - or maybe we were not able to open it lol :lmao:

We couldn't open our mini bar as well - but then again, I didn't try too hard in case they started charging me for things just because I opened the door:rotfl:

Oh don't worry - when I checked in last year I declined the opportunity of having the minibar unlocked, I even checked that it was locked.

Come checkout day, I got a bill for minibar items. Had to point out to them that it had been locked for the duration of our stay.

It was only £2 - £3 but it was the point that it hadn't been unlocked, and so it couldn't have been us!.
